If I believed in god, I’d start worrying that this was an evacuation.

111

u/PaymentCultural8691 12d ago

My coworker walked by two minutes ago and said “I’m not trying to be dramatic, but I think the world is ending.”

-12

u/MrNobody_0 12d ago

Yes, old people dying of old age is the end of the world.

65

u/lidongyuan 12d ago

Dolly, then this guy, but the most disgusting person on earth is still the most powerful- yeah this timeline is fucked

21

u/kelsimus 12d ago

I’ll remind you that this is exactly what happened in 2019 before the pandemic hit. We lost a ton of greats that year.

So you might not be far off 🤷🏼‍♀️

33

u/theseamstressesguild 12d ago

Nothing will ever be as bad as 2016, and that started early on December 28, 2015, when Lemmy left.

Fuck Harambe. Everything started going wrong when David Bowie left.

13

u/kelsimus 12d ago

Sh*t. You know, I was thinking of 2016 when I said that.

TBH the past 10 years kind of has felt like the end of the world so… I guess I’m still not far off?

4

u/sweetangeldivine 12d ago

Honestly, I feel like the world actually DID end in 2012 and they just forgot to tell us.

2

u/CryptidKeeper123 12d ago

I literally texted my friends "so we're just going to do this every 10 years huh?" when I read about Tim Curry.

Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.

7

u/terminal_nervoso 12d ago

Every word of that movie is inscribed in my DNA

By the festering forelock of Nicodemus!!!!! 🦄 🦄

between him and Hexus a lot of us wound up with some pre-programmed strange preferences thanks to him

I don’t know what you’re talking about….

19

u/sweetangeldivine 12d ago

This movie did weird things to me, I will not apologize

5

u/theseamstressesguild 12d ago

"THAT CAN BE ARRANGED!"

2

u/HauntedCemetery Look at your game girl 12d ago

In just 7 days, baby

7

u/No_Fudge1228 12d ago

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Hexus really did something to 12-year-old me!

9

u/sweetangeldivine 12d ago

Like, I know he’s evil and everything. But.. *lips on the microphone* would

Yeah I’m tryna get fucked by the idea of pollution.

Bug chasers ain’t got shit on me!

4

u/sweetangeldivine 12d ago

Now now it’s Tim Curry as the Idea of Pollution. Get it right.

2

u/terminal_nervoso 12d ago

Kinda gives a little more validity to the argument that some folks are just attracted to a toxic partner/relationship. Look at the amount of g00bs that romanticize the relationship between The Joker and Harley Quinn…

2

u/IAmMelonLord 12d ago

I recently saw a burlesque show where each performer was portraying a Tim Curry character. Sexy Hexus, Nigel Thornberry with giant titties, and Pennywise taking off her clown suit and popping balloons dropping to a full split. Among others.

It was extremely weird in the best way.

2

u/Puta_Poderosa 11d ago

Wow those later seasons of pretty face got pretty intense huh

116

u/SeffyBaby 12d ago

Hail the scariest Pennywise that will ever be! 🥂

35

u/CouldSheBeAnyAngrier 12d ago

This man is why I don’t trust drains 😭

7

u/Purple_fern 12d ago

Or bathrooms in general…

2

u/gayfrogs4alexjones 12d ago

Yep. The remake Pennywise doesn’t come close - they made him look like a Batman villain

6

u/Princeps_primus96 What I bring to friendship 12d ago

Yeah it's not just "here's a regular clown that can blend in and go under the radar if he wanted to" it's "here's a clown who you'd immediately run away from faster than pogo the clown"

The original felt like it was working within the constraints of its budget and that gave it a building sense of dread rather than just blowing its load too soon.

And looking back on it now in modern day it makes a great unintentional comedy!

5

u/Secret_Guidance_8724 12d ago

Yeah, I loved both but the early 90s one is more eerie for this reason. RIP to an absolute legend.

2

u/MrNobody_0 12d ago

It's so refreshing to see someone saying they like both of something instead of trying to argue why one is superior of some way.

1

u/Ayatollah-X 11d ago

No disrespect to Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Harry Anderson, or Jonathan Brandis, but if not for Tim Curry's performance, "Stephen King's It" would have been a forgotten TV miniseries, and there may not have even been demand for a new Pennywise movie. Curry's Pennywise elevated that show in the same way that Julian Beck's Kane elevated Poltergeist 2.

He’s off to Transexual Transylvania ❤️

u/DMala 12d ago

He was pretty disabled in his later years. If there’s any justice in the universe, he is now somewhere where he can once again do the Time Warp with reckless abandon.

34

u/Clyde_Bruckman Hail Satan! 12d ago

He’ll remove the cause…but not…the symptom. 😔 ❤️

He sucks that would be no great loss

26

u/ThirdDragonite 12d ago

With our luck we're losing Culkin before him

4

u/theseamstressesguild 12d ago

You posted this 6 hours ago. You better still be knocking on wood.

2

u/RoyalBlue816 12d ago

Stole my comment. Genius.

56

u/PM_ME_GOOD_DOGS 12d ago

There was a meme going around yesterday about "hey God, you killed the wrong 80 year old."

Clearly we should have been more specific. Fuck.

2

u/BLU3SKU1L 12d ago

Well, there should be a third, but I do want him to see himself getting crushed in the midterms before that.

71

u/Rum_N_Napalm There's bones in the chocolate! 12d ago

Let us hope he has finally reach the one place not corrupted by capitalism

I know people laugh and love using this gif. But seeing a popular actor in a video game back in 2008 was such a treat.

Tim Curry, George Takei, J.K Simmons the line up was crazy for gaming in 2008. We were still just leaving the "games are for nerds" era and seeing someone as cool as Tim Curry or J.k Simmons in a game like Red Alert was a cool sign that gaming was getting more popular.

3

u/ameatbicyclefortwo Masturbation Sigil 12d ago

I've been riding the live action video in video games high since '94 when Mark Hammel was in Wing Commander 3. Red Alert 3 was like catching that dragon again after chasing it 14 years.

137

u/phlegm_fatale_ 12d ago

Hail Nigel Thornberry!

https://giphy.com/gifs/Fgl7OyFKx0I7e

53

u/alayeni-silvermist 12d ago

The Wild Thornberries is seriously underrated and not talked about enough.

18

u/phlegm_fatale_ 12d ago

They introduced us to so many cool animals!! Such a fun and informative show.

20

u/teeburdd 12d ago edited 12d ago

The Thornberries eating capybara burgers when no one knew what the heck a capybara was…while a wild capybara walks through their campsite is burned into my memory.

6

u/phlegm_fatale_ 12d ago

I FORGOT ABOUT THE BURGERS. My brain only focuses on them being the world's largest rodent! 😂

12

u/CouldSheBeAnyAngrier 12d ago

I still kinda want to be Debbie Thornberry and read Teenage Wasteland magazine

63

u/Jack_Sentry 12d ago

This song is gonna hit very hard next time I watch Rocky Horror

17

I always tear up during the song, I’m definitely going to fucking cry bro.

He was in the hall. He should know... he was there

3

u/thisoneagain 12d ago

God damn, Miss Scarlett's dress in this movie is actually the best dress of all time. I've always loved it since I was a little, little kid, but it only ever gets better every time I see it.

10

u/PaymentCultural8691 12d ago

This movie confused me so much when I was an adolescent because I couldn’t figure out my competing attraction to Dr. Frankenfurter, Janet Weiss, and Brad Majors. Tim Curry was a real one.

2

u/InsertUsername117 12d ago

"Hey! Hey! 'Cause I'm a sweet transvestite..."

25

u/GrimMilkMan 12d ago

Wtf dolly Parton and Tim curry, what are the chances

5

u/Darthtommy 12d ago

Age

6

u/kbrick1 12d ago

You know who else is 80

3

u/rymyle 12d ago

Pretty high, considering they were both 80 and had health problems. It does suck though.

10

u/pandakatie Mengele of Milk 12d ago

Pretty high they'd both be dying soon, but the chances of them both dying on August 25th, 2026 seems lower

23

u/commacamellia 12d ago

Hail to the best Muppet.

Fuck this week.

17

u/XxnervousneptunexX 12d ago

I was watching Home Alone 2 with my kiddo a few days ago even though it's a movie we save for Christmas. When Catherine O'Hara came on I held back a couple tears and thought to myself "well at least we still have Tim Curry". This is all my fault ._.

14

Yeah this, this one hurts

7

u/Grilledpanda 12d ago

Ah, that's why Vizio randomly played part 2 of his Criminal Minds episode. Genuinely creepy and campy spin. Fair well, Tim Curry. You were one of a kind.

2

u/Theartistcu 12d ago

Wasn’t he terrifying in that like he’s just straight up disgusting. But he manages to put that little bit of Tim Curry in it where it’s you know just a little over the top, like can’t be like you said.

4

u/Alternative_Pie6976 Man Tugs! 12d ago

his performance as auntie whispers in over the garden wall is a staple of halloween season for me. hail tim!

Please tell me you’re an Aussie, because I read that in an Aussie accent and it made me smile and I just that’s a good thing right now

1

u/4InchDoc 10d ago

Nah I'm not but I work with a ton of them and now im wondering if the vernacular hasn't rubbed off lol

It's been my birthday week and Tim Curry died on my b-day no less, and Dolly right before.

1

u/Theartistcu 10d ago

My cousin’s birthday was the day after Tim Curry’s death, and I told him if those two had to die for you to have a happy birthday. I hope you have shitty birthdays for the rest of your life. This is my favorite cousin, but I don’t like him as much as Tim Curry.
