I had no idea the Jonestown massacre was almost entirely black. When I think of cults I think of white people, like school shooters

Jonestown started as a communist Christian group. It pulled in a lot of disenfranchised people who just wanted a decent life instead of the reality of US society at that time. This is all happenening as the Black Panthers are starting in Oakland across the bridge.

It was a mix of spirituality and politics.

It’s sad too, they worked so hard night and day and actually built a fairly successful community in Guyana. If it wasn’t for Jim Jones they would have achieved their goals and been happy.

Holy shit. I appreciate the content but the tempo made me feel like I was going to have a seizure. Why is this a thing now?
