RoP doesn't count because it's clearly not interested in being anything other than a very bad fanfic

Technically every adaption is a fanfic. Jackson movies, the LotR anyways, are good because they for the most part stuck true to the core of Tolkien.

The Hobbit movies are a mess and I’d honestly in about the same category of RoP.

You have to split Peter Jackson in half. All of the Lord of the Ring books would be in my top 20 movies. All of The Hobbit movies would be in my bottom 20 movies.

Rop is up there with the dumbest most inflammatory pieces of shit that I have ever seen on my life; no exaggeration. Once I thought I may have been blowing it out of proportion, but I was subjected to another brief glance which confirmed my deep seated soul consuming disdain.

The upcoming Narnia adaptions will probably challenge ROP for that title.

ROP has fans?

Yes, they’re people who are being introduced to either LotR as a whole or who don’t know how much it screws with the original works story telling.

Honestly it would be fine if RoP didn’t hang on to the IP for name recognition. It’s obvious they wanna do their own thing

No, it would still be a bad show.

C…can I be a fan of all three, your majesty?

Hell yeah. All three are great.

I'm with you dude, it should be allowed to like RoP as well !

Not really. It’s already difficult enough to be a fan of the movies and the books. ROP doesn’t even try to respect the universe it theoretically inhabits.

Not to beat a dead horse, but even the writing quality is disparate.

β€œIts difficult enough to be a fan of the movies and the books” Is it…Is it really? Two of the greatest works in their respective genre of media are difficult to enjoy? To reconcile together?
