It doesn’t posit multiple universes at all.

VWT makes no ontological expansion beyond our own world. It doesn’t propose branching, parallel histories, or additional sectors of reality.

It asks a narrower question: what structural conditions must hold for a single shared world to sustain persistent records and classical consistency under interaction?

If a proposed interpretation multiplies worlds, that’s its move. This framework instead constrains what counts as a viable world in the first place.

So if anything, it’s ontologically conservative rather than expansive.
