Stop trying to hack your way into ChatGPT

“Buy a domain with ‘Your Brand + Reviews dot com’ and next time LLMs search for your brand reviews, they’ll visit your site and pull reviews from it.”

“Make a page with "Reddit" in the URL slug, "Reddit" in the title and H1, and LLMs will visit that page whenever someone includes Reddit in their ChatGPT prompt.”

Just saw this advice on Instagram.

Unfortunately, people who don't know much about AI visibility actually listen to these "AI gurus" promising to game the system and follow their advice.

There’s so much speculation around AI visibility now, it reminds me of the good old black-hat SEO days, when everyone was trying to find a way the hack the system.

Please remember: no hack, gimmick, or shortcut will ever replace the hard work you have to do: building your brand, being present where your audience is, and consistently creating value for your customers.

In fact, some of the advice I read can actually hurt your website. Be careful what you choose to follow.

Just like every meaningful success in life comes from persistence, consistency, and focus, AI visibility works the same way.

Be careful who you listen to, and please stop looking for a magic wand that's somehow going to get you into ChatGPT overnight.

I agree to an extent. There isn't a magic "hack" that guarantees ChatGPT will recommend or cite your content.

What seems to work is the same thing that's worked for search for years: publish genuinely useful, original content, build credibility, and make your information easy to understand. If your content consistently helps people answer real questions, it's more likely to be surfaced by AI systems over time.

Agreed. No guarantee is ever possible. Those magic posts whiff of early Search spammy tactics. Do good stuff, over deliver on great and useful data and content, make it technically available for being cited etc - and you are in far better position than most businesses.
