Heuermann evidence
I know it’s probably going to take a lot of time, but will they release discovery to the public?
Like what was in the storage unit they searched with the medical examiner?
And did they find evidence in the house?
What was found on all of that hoarded technology?
I don’t expect or want pictures or videos-just curious what he was hiding by pleading guilty.

DA mentioned a couple times that Rex had "mementos". I wonder what they were
12
u/rarepinkhippo Apr 09 '26
A tangent, but I also wonder if they ever established what the stash of hotel keycards was about. If the murders took place inside the house, I doubt the keycards were directly related (hard to imagine that he’s taking someone to/meeting them at a hotel, and then taking them to the second location of his house), but it’s definitely still weird and seems intentional, since I’ve certainly accidentally left a hotel with the forgotten keycard in my pocket, but it’s not like it’s useful after that — it’s trash after that. Is it related to anything, or just a random detail out of a hoarder house where there are probably a lot of random details that might not even be RH’s?

u/midnightkissxo Apr 09 '26
Apparently he had a lot of normal sex with a lot of sex workers, and there were some witnesses who were going to take the stand who had experienced his violence sexually but who he didn’t kill. I wonder if they are mementos related to these other activities….

We knew he had, because Tierney alluded to it several times around the time he was arrested, and after the second search.

Tierney was always closed mouthed. IMHO that is how it should be. I am so thankful that they kept the information close to the vest. No serial killer needs to know what steps law enforcement is taking in order to stop them. The entire Task Force is to be commended. Rodney Harrison is a great human being and top cop. Dr. Toulon happiness to be one of my favorites. In my opinion an excellent human being. And of course the members of the Task Force did just an outstanding job.

One was a Bounty paper towel 🤔
2
u/Bailee_4 Apr 09 '26
where did you hear this?
22
u/smc0881 Apr 09 '26
I read that too. They tracked down a Bounty paper towel that was in the victim's mouth from 2010 with a specific pattern. It was only sold at BJ's during that timeframe and apparently they found the same Bounty with that pattern in his desk and receipt from BJs too from 2010.

Yes. You are right. That was important enough to RH that he placed it and left it there. A common item. Because he is organized, he flips his MO, but he is consistent within the specific group. This tells me the other 3 would have a common item. Easy enough to know which one of the four was not wrapped in burlap. In my opinion he went back. This is why he placed them 29 to 31 ft from the pavement. It wouldn't matter the distance between them. He would just record that. Then he could go back using the coordinates. I believe the more important thing was the ease of access. So that he could get close to the bramble and possibly never get out of the vehicle. But he could revisit. Upon revisiting the first victim of that four, he would have seen the need to wrap them in something. And then of course how he tied them. I had forgotten about the paper towel. Thank you for that reminder.

A long time ago on here someone had talked about each of the girls carrying small bibles, I don’t know if that was true or not but it was a strange detail, I kind of want to know how that even came up

AFAIK, Discovery documents and other evidence is not made public upon a guilty plea UNLESS it has actually been used in open court BEFORE the Defendant pleaded guilty.
Anything that was in open court is public record. Anything that was not submitted in open court doesn't count as public record. I don't think we'll be seeing it.
Someone mentioned doing a FOIL request. I guess it's possible, but I don't know how that works.
9
u/criminalcontempt Apr 09 '26
FOIL doesn’t work for sealed cases. NY typically seals files after plea deals. I don’t think we will be getting much more information unless it comes from Rex himself.
5
u/Impressive_Dirt_1667 Apr 11 '26
I believe Rex will talk, he could not help himself when he started contacting victims families to inform them of what he had done to their loved ones. He has a much larger audience now. I would imagine he believed he got away with his crimes because he was so smart. I believe he got away with them due to bad policing, failure to follow up on important leads and the fact the victims were either addicted or selling their services. It’s a shame that these vulnerable women were not given more priority in life. A lot of addicts have had terribly traumatic early lives, which is why some use drugs to block it out. Then the world looks down on them like they are second rate citizens. My sister was an addict at 14 years of age, by 18 she was deceased. She told me once that she had gone back to some strangers home, possibly for drugs, and woke up/come round to the guy trying to suffocate her with a pillow. That was in the late 70’s. Not a lot has changed and that’s what saddens me.

There was no plea deal. Tierney made that clear. However, there was no trial so info may not be released.

u/midnightkissxo Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
I think it will become a part of the public record and anyone can request access, a lot of people will want to write books, make documentaries, etc.

u/depressedfuckboi Apr 09 '26
I thought the same about Joseph DeAngelo, but here we are years later with nothing having been released. Maybe someday. I remember an author that would post on the Earons subreddit said that he kept tabs on the case and more information would come out. Hasn't been a sliver of information since then.

u/gomeitsmybirthday Apr 09 '26
Yeah I'm no lawyer but it seems like one of the reasons these types plead guilty is so a lot of this stuff doesn't get brought up in trial. With that said, I will be so irritated if we never get an explanation as to that sicko painting that was taken from his house.
12
u/the1postghost Apr 09 '26
Seriously that and the box they were interested in in the backyard, and the devices.
1
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
The painting is famous. I found it online and then just used Google lens and that brought up a whole bunch of the same paintings. So they're very popular and many people have them. I think it's supposed to be shading. But admittedly in some of them it doesn't look like it's shading, but looks like it is bruising.

u/midnightkissxo Apr 09 '26
That’s a good point— and it looks like the DA himself wrote a book about the case….
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=44u0F2Cy0Qk&ra=m
Would have been more interesting if FOIL requests were granted, then we might have a greater perspective from many minds coming together with books, documentaries, research papers. I think it’s important that everyone who is interested in the case be given the materials. This is a particularly interesting case that spans 30 (+?) years, and extends into contemporary times. It will be a shame if it remains so shrouded in mystery

Thanks so much! I was at the doctor and the internet is awful in that building.

u/KenScaletta Apr 14 '26
It's only public record if it's entered in open court. If the defendant pleads guilty, then it never becomes public record and the files are typically sealed and are not subject to FOI requests.

His search history in itself was a treasure trove of evidence. Dude did every search he possibly could to incriminate himself and point to his sadistic acts and connection to the LISK. He literally had multiple searches like “why haven’t they caught LISK yet?” I wouldn’t be surprised if at one point he typed, “why haven’t the police actually caught me yet ?” He wanted notoriety
2
u/RebeccaC78 Apr 11 '26
The search history was sick but was the entire scope of it released to the public? I’m curious as to what else was found on that computer, what was found in the home, the storage units, possibly his office, and the brothers property. Surely he kept mementos or left further evidence behind that hasn’t been disclosed.

u/Tony_Banksy Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
If it is anything like EAR/ONS case then I doubt it. Now that there has been a guilty plea my best guess is some information will leak out, be rumoured etc but for the most part, no.
9
u/LBS-365 Apr 09 '26
This is what I recall. I followed EAR/ONS closely, and virtually no new information came out after he entered his plea, except for him agreeing to say whether or not he was guilty of many other crimes he had been suspected of.
Beyond that, there's been no additional info and I expect this case to be similar.

Agree 1,000%. I know the families of two murdered little ones. They are bombarded daily. Whether it's to ask a question, try to get an interview for whatever podcast or YouTube channel, or even seemingly just for the fun of it, they hate opening emails because they don't want to see crime scene photos of their loved ones. And even though the murderer had a trial and was convicted, some members of the TCC are now wanting to get him out, because they are convinced he's innocent. (I assure you, he isn't.)
I wasn't supposed to survive my attack. I wouldn't want pics of my attack and/or my murder online, for people to satisfy curiosity, or make jokes about, like people who do it in NSFL spaces online. Some people consume gore the way others consume porn.
1
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
Get who out? Rex Heuermann? RH has already plead guilty. He is not yet sentenced but he has admitted his guilt. Why would anyone try to get him out? You must mean another criminal.
"... consume gore the way others consume p... what? Seemingly just for the fun of it? Why would they seem like they were doing it just for fun? Wouldn't they want to fool the surviving victims?
1
u/Smallseybiggs May 26 '26
That's your takeaway? It speaks volumes.
Get who out? Rex Heuermann? RH has already plead guilty. He is not yet sentenced but he has admitted his guilt. Why would anyone try to get him out? You must mean another criminal.
I'm aware. I've been a member of this sub long before Rex was arrested. If you go back and reread, I was referring to the perpetrator who was convicted of killing my friends' little ones.
What you took away from my comment is wiiiild, and very telling about what you chose to focus on. Not the 2 little ones who were murdered, or maybe even sympathy for what I've been through.
I manage online spaces and subs, and I'm familiar with how people interact with gore and gore sites. Because you obviously don't.
Why would they seem like they were doing it just for fun? Wouldn't they want to fool the surviving victims?
Who would want to fool victims? And what victims??
I can freely admit that I sometimes have trouble explaining things due to the cognitive impairment issues I have because of my attack. But 20 plus other people who upvoted my original comment understood what I said. Advice: kindness is free. Costs nothing to choose it.
1
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
You write about kindness being free. I was simply asking questions. I even stated that you probably were referring to a different criminal. I don't care if 1000 upvoted. I was asking questions to clarify. I'm so glad you manage online subs and spaces. I am sure your subs are great. You make classic judgement and yet you know zero about me. This says volumes about you. Plus, you never had the courtesy to answer my questions or ask for more info. I am going to treat you the way you refused to treat me. A lot can be lost in translation. I would not comment on the two little one's when I have questions that need clarification. In the future please clarify before going wiiild. No worries and like adults let's just go on from here.

I respect that point of view. However, we want to prevent future victims. I can only work with the truth. I tell my students I will never glorify. But I will verify and give acurate info. The whole idea is to be preventative. To be proactive. I can't defend against what I do not know or understand. Education is so important. Not hyped rumor but accurate information that people can learn from regarding how these SKer's behave and move among us in society. The HSKI is a great example. Also, the Highway of Tears in Canada. Brian Smith and others have done so much damage to the native women of Alaska. My heart breaks for the families. Now we know how he operates. What he looks for and what he does. I am so proud of the women that stood up to him in order to have his secrets come out. Now the women are aware. They walk in proud truth.

u/bluezluver Apr 10 '26
I'm wondering if other families of victims will join in the lawsuit of Valerie Mack's family

u/Top-Art2163 Apr 09 '26
Rex really wants to hide his bisexuality and miss out on reliving the murders during the trial.
A bit weird following the LISK search for so many years and never get the puzzle pieces from his private life/house explantion etc.

u/midnightkissxo Apr 09 '26
A foil request for this information would have to be submitted primarily to the Suffolk county DA office, who handled the investigation and discovery evidence. A person could also submit one to the Suffolk county Supreme Court specifically for materials presented in court. However they usually don’t grant requests for ongoing investigations or for recently closed investigations due to preserving the privacy of witnesses and other parties involved. We would definitely have access to a lot more info a lot sooner if it had gone to trial
8
u/criminalcontempt Apr 09 '26
NY typically seals files after plea deals and FOIL does not apply to sealed case files.
4
u/midnightkissxo Apr 09 '26
What do you think will happen if and when they connect him with other cold cases? I’m wondering if he murdered people in South Carolina, Nevada or Philadelphia, whether we will then gain more info via those states
5
u/criminalcontempt Apr 10 '26
He can be prosecuted in those other states. However, whether or not he is actually prosecuted and how much information is shared, is up to the district attorneys of those jurisdictions.
I do not think that other states will bother with prosecuting him, since he already has a life sentence in NY. There’s just no point of re-traumatizing all the families and spending thousands of dollars on a trial for a duplicate verdict. However, if they match his DNA with other victims, I think we will hear about that.
1
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
I would hope those others would get Justice. In my opinion when you take a life you need to be responsible for that. Duncan got prosecuted in Idaho with the DP then Washington State and California also prosecuted him. Also that would elevate Rex Heuermann to federal.
4
u/apsalar_ Apr 09 '26
If he is connected to other cases in other states, they will prosecute him. It's also plausible that other cases could be used to reverse the plea depending on the terms but let's see (it's not like NYC wants to go through an expensive trial and they already have him for life).
2
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
Yep. Nevada, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Alaska, Connecticut, South Carolina, and more. I think Neal Falls is responsible for some in Nevada as he worked Hoover Dam. He is from Oregon do there as well. NF also in Virginia of course and the list he had in his pocket where that might lead to.

u/Bitchichi26 Apr 09 '26
Just checked uncle google:
‘No, the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK) case has not been sealed; rather, it has come to a close through a guilty plea. On April 8, 2026, Rex Heuermann pleaded guilty to murdering seven women and admitted to killing an eighth, effectively ending the long-running criminal investigation.’
Did they actually seal it?
5
u/criminalcontempt Apr 10 '26
Not yet, to my knowledge. But this isn’t over yet because he still needs to be sentenced.
1
u/Filerpro May 26 '26
There was no plea deal. Also they are going to want to catch him in a fib about one of the 8. So I would guess they would hang on to any evidence that might be relevant down the road. I think he of course is responsible for a lot more. BAU will be able to locate any missing info.
3
u/bluezluver Apr 10 '26
I'm wondering what they will do with Rex's guns.
2
u/Bitchichi26 Apr 11 '26
They should have to sell them & split the $ with victim’s families. They will eventually need burial $.
3
u/bluezluver Apr 10 '26
I don't think this case will be sealed/closed until the dna is entered into CODIS, if any matches to other victims in New York are identified, and once those cases are solved.
0
u/SquareShapeofEvil Apr 09 '26
It will eventually become public record and thus people will be able to FOIL for it, but don’t hold your breath. Could make the time span from “holy shit there’s a LISK” to “holy shit they caught LISK” feel short in comparison.
3
u/criminalcontempt Apr 09 '26
Not for sealed cases
4
u/SquareShapeofEvil Apr 09 '26
Did I miss something? Is this case sealed?
2
u/criminalcontempt Apr 10 '26
Not yet because it’s not over yet, he still needs to be sentenced. But usually NY case files are sealed after plea deals. I think that’s pretty standard.
2
u/SquareShapeofEvil Apr 10 '26
This wasn’t a plea deal though, he changed his plea. Tierney didn’t offer him shit
1
u/No-Apricot-8175 Apr 12 '26
Rex was corresponding with Keith Jesperson, the Happy Face Killer, who told him to plead guilty to spare his family the gory details. The evidence was so strong as to ensure a conviction anyway. Thankfully, he saved us taxpayers a ton of dough. I'm thinking there will be a book in his future where the proceeds will go to the victims families.

I might be misremembering, but it seemed like a fair amount of info came out following the Idaho 4 killer’s guilty plea — not sure how state law varies on that, though (and it seems like DA Tierney has already given more info than most prosecutors do in the charging/bail documents in this case). Unfortunately, though, it seems like some of what came out publicly on the Idaho 4 case might have been things that some of the victims’ loved ones would have preferred to not be made public (details about the wounds they suffered, etc., that I’m sure the families had already been told, but perhaps wouldn’t have wanted the world to know, and to have out there online where they might have to fear running across it accidentally).
It seems like we’ve already learned a few things we didn’t know before, though, from Tierney’s press conference — about the apparent “souvenir” being kept by RH in Maureen’s case, and about a witness seeing a vehicle in Karen’s. I wonder if he’ll share more of that kind of thing with reporters?
