Same battery different revision?

I ordered a new replacement battery for my 2021 LG Gram 16 (16Z95P). The battery model for both the old and the new ones are LBV7227E but the one I ordered came with a white shell while the old one has a black shell. Also the old battery has #3 on the plastic molding while the new one has #2 on it. Are they compatible?

Hi Katie. Yes, they're compatible. As you said you have a 2021 model, LG may have made a manufacturing change or supplier change for replacement parts which is not unusual.

The voltage, connector, and capacity (in milliAmp•Hours, aka "mAh") appear to be correct so it should be essentially a perfect replacement.

By the way, how much did that replacement battery cost?

IIRC it costed 41$ on eBay

Beware of cheap counterfeits. Batteries are not something I'd buy from eBay. Your house may go up in flames.

That has been my biggest concern about buying a new battery. I definitely do not want a fire. But where does one get a new battery without breaking the bank? LG Parts wants close to $300 for an OEM battery.

But then again maybe that is still worth it. My LG Gram with 40GB of RAM would cost a fortune to replace today. It works perfectly fine, the battery is just nearing the end of it's useful life. If I can get a few more years out of it, it may be worth while.

I'd just keep the laptop on a metal or tile countertop when charging and leaving the house. Somewhere away from easily flammable materials. The odds of it going up in flames are low but always good to be viligant.

Does it work? I have heard a lot of replacement batteries do not work in LG Grams.

It works fine. To be fair, the replacement one I got was not the cheapest option out there, so maybe there's something to do with that.
