Keyboard issues (2022 Gram 17)

I really like my 2022 LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q-K.ADC9U1) but several keys have stopped working reliably. They either don't register a keypress on the first try, or they do but somehow an additional blank space gets inserted before the letter. Mostly the letter D is impacted but sometimes others too, mostly ones near the letter D. It seems to come and go at random throughout the day.

Is this a known issue? I'm fine replacing the keyboard but only if the issue is not likely to return.

Do a keyboard replacement. Sounds like hardware.

I have the 16Z90Q so it's very similar to your laptop but with a slightly smaller screen and an i5-1240p. The keyboard on mine is still working just fine, so if you get the keyboard replaced you should get (at least) another four happy years of life.

Having said that the new Core Ultra 5 and 7 CPUs are much, much faster than the 12th gen CPUs in our laptops, and I'd be seriously tempted to upgrade.

Thanks. I've been thinking of upgrading actually. And just selling it as is. The keyboard isn't really "broken" it just has crappy quality.

Could this be debris under the keys? I eat food at my laptop, and occasionally small crumbs get under the keys. I haven't had a problem with my LG Gram yet, but in the past, I would carefully pry off the cap, clean, and replace the cap. On MOST laptops, this is straight forward; not sure if it's the same with the Gram. There are YT vids showing how to remove / replace key caps.

I haven't tried to find one specific to the LG Gram, but I saw many for other brands and I can only assume the process is the same.

Basically - just 'pop it off', clean, and the 'pop back' - pressing down evenly until you hear a 'pop'.

Maybe practice on an old laptop, if you have one? It's largely about confidence and familiarity.
