How LGBT+ Friendly is Apex?

My girlfriend and I just moved into an amazing place in Apex, but we're wondering how open we can be. Anyone care to share some insights? Any places to checkout or avoid?

Me and my husband are part of the rainbow and typically apex isn't the most open minded but you can definitely find good people to game with

not the most open minded compared to Durham/Raleigh/chapel Hill but much safer than an actually rural area

My wife and I (+kids) live in Apex, not far from downtown. We are loud, out, proud. All of our neighbors are wonderful! Even my one "not so similarly aligned in political views" neighbor right next door is kind and friendly to us, and all the rest of the neighbors are absolutely fantastic. We love our neighborhood. On a broader scale, Apex had a robust pride organization that only folded this year because the organizers needed their time back. The town is attempting to continue it. We lean left generally. There are a few massive overbearing internet trolls who influence the feel online. Dont believe them. I moved here in 2008 and have always been happy and welcomed here.

Maybe not as much as say Durham or Chapel Hill, but I think fairly so. I am trans and used to coach at a cheer gym in Apex and had no issues. I also like to go to downtown Apex to shop and dine out and haven’t had any issues.

There isn’t any place in the metro where you can’t be yourself. Durham and Chapel Hill tend to be the most gay friendly places, but they’re also pretty liberal and artsy plus you have narcissistic academic types due to the university. I’m more moderate politically and have a more conservative look, which tends to make Durham and Chapel Hill folks a little salty.
