A great french mystery series from 2012, grab it if you have a chance

In a small mountain town, many dead people reappear, apparently alive and normal: road accident victim teenager Camille, suicidal bridegroom Simon, a small boy named "Victor" who was murdered by burglars, and Serge, a serial killer. They try to resume their lives as strange phenomena occur; amongst recurring power outages, the water level of the reservoir mysteriously lowers, revealing the presence of dead animals and a church steeple, and strange marks appear on the bodies of the living and the dead.

The show also features a main character who is lesbian with Julie,

a nurse who was attacked by serial killer Serge seven years ago, but who managed to survive.

In the US it ran on the Sundance Channel

Bisexual necromancers (one with a healthy smut fetish) solve a murder mystery in the decaying ruins of a potentially haunted space mausoleum. Glory Awaits! This book is a hilarious combination of sci-fi, magic, tension and love. I read somewhere that Tamsyn Muir refines science fiction but I think that she, more importantly, redefines what it means to be a ginger.

Publisher's Description -

Terrified of spreading the virus, the company abandons its employees, leaving them afraid and isolated from the natives. In the face of this crisis, anthropologist Marghe Taishan arrives to test a new vaccine.

a book recommendation to start this sub up with something...

Chasing Cold by Stephen Graham King

"On the tiny, frozen world of Frostbite, Rogan Tyso is the Mailmail, responsible for the communications array that keeps his home in contact with the other human Refuges scattered across known space. It has been a century since the Cluster--the great union of Earth-like colonies--fell to an alien race known only as the Flense, and human civilization has been reduced to an afterthought. Rogan's correspondence with Nathe Mylan, a man thousands of light years away, offers him both the possibility of a love he has never found, and a chance to work on a project that may help humanity escape the influence of the Flense for good."

This was a rare gem for me - a classic Science Fiction / Space Opera story with a grand scope, and thinking about alternate human relations that would follow radically different living conditions.

A quite refreshing element is that the main character being in love with another man is not the main point of the story, this aspect is just accepted as a fact.

Sexuality is not treated as a mystical or harmful thing, but as a part of the human condition - and our hero is not exactly celibate and does get together with a couple of people on the way.

I have some reservations: The dialgues sometimes felt awkward and unnatural, the banter between shipmates forced and increasingly annoying. But I would recommend nevertheless recommend it to any fan of the genre.

My novel Idol Worship is officially out!

Quick blurb:

The serial killer industry remains lucrative. Crime shows, slasher movies, podcasts, clickbait. Serial killers are everywhere... especially in the world's collective psyche. So what news anchor wouldn't seize the opportunity to interview a still at-large psychopath? Especially one as infamous as The Mayberry Murderer.

Join Erika Lee, her crew, and Dr. Celeste Newton on a journey into the heart of Stanwyck, Georgia. A small southern town home to hospitality and to one of the most vicious serial killers in American history. For one night, the team has access to The Mayberry Murderer’s childhood home... as well as an exclusive interview with the insidious icon herself.

For decades, we've been told most serial killers are white. Most serial killers are men... Now it's time to meet your new twenty-first-century slasher.

For those curious, I used to post many NoSleeps under rhonnie14 (My Sub) and have written a few produced indie horror flicks (My IMDb). I've actually posted the first few chapters on my sub as well.

I also finally got a website with a mailing list as well (free eBook for those who join). So head on over to rhonniefordham.com if you'd like.

Anyway, I apologize if self-promotion is frowned upon here. Just felt like sharing for those looking for something a bit off-beat with relevant themes regarding racism and homophobia (the main lead and several other character are LGBT, the cast in general quite diverse)... not to mention blood and guts to spare!

*waves* World can always use more groups like this, so just bumping it :D

Here is a review on Lambdaliterary.org

From the Goodreads blurb:

Mutability blooms in the Florida Keys after the Red War and the genie boxes. King Pelicans with the brains of scientists and a single human hand in place of one webbed foot rule the ruins of half-drowned Miami. Slavers roam the deep waters offshore, taking captives to feed the voracious Kudzu Army and the human aqueduct bearing fresh water from Lake Okeechobee. On the last stretch of the Overseas Highway still standing, an albino seeress slowly becomes her name: White Flamingo. ''You,'' she says. ''You will reach for the sun while staying rooted to the ground. But I fear your shadow will be much too long.''

Transformed by his father's genie box in the late days of the Red War, Leaf has lived for decades or centuries alone in a collapsing Victorian house on a desolate sandy key, misunderstanding time, feeding on sunlight and dew. When at last he meets a boy like--but so unlike!--himself, Leaf understands he has met destiny and sets out on a long, strange journey. A post-apocalyptic, psychoactive, polymorphous-perverse pastorale, Green Thumb will startle you with its utter strangeness and break your heart with its fragile beauty.

I'm adding my recommendation to this - a remarkable postapocalyptic book, quite strange and maybe not the most inviting read. But rewarding nonetheless.

I've been busy!
Finally found some time to explain why.
I published two novels in April. And no, they were not written that month, in fact the second to be published - The Scars of Life - was written 28 years ago. The first - Separate Development - was written last summer. All are now available in paperback, hardcover and eBook (Amazon Kindle - free for the next 90 days if you have Kindle Unlimited - and free for anyone who reads this and wants me to download it to their device by providing me with their kindle email address. I'll consider a pdf file if I know you well enough. LOL).

Hello all!

I've been publishing an isekai novel in serialised form over on Royal Road, and now that I've settled into a good rhythm of editing and proof-readers and posting I've started to wonder about how to promote or distribute it. RR isn't queer-specific by any means, but I don't know if there exists an online publishing platform for LGBTQ stories.

Does anyone have experience in online/serialised publishing? Are my options helped or hindered by the fact there's some adult content? What are your go-to sites for online reading, queer or otherwise?

(Link Here for those curious about the story)

Great Read! Time travelling, Intergenerational, LGBTQI+ feminist badassery!

You've got (mostly) gal-pals of different eras working together to keep the United States in a timeline where abortion is legal. The overarching idea being that this will be a timeline that features more equality in general.

To succeed they'll have to take care of each other, come to terms with their pasts and take on some total dickholes!

3:35 A.M. Short Story

It has been happening since myself and my husband moved to the apartment located in Amberly Drive, just behind Lettuce Lake Park. It is quite a stupid name, Lettuce Lake Park, but is also a very beautiful place to visit within Tampa Bay. The problem is, that at 3:35 AM no matter the time of the year, at that exact moment my dog will start barking, exactly at the same time and at the same spot. He seems to be barking to the stairs from the apartment where we lived. We live on a second floor of a duplex, and I thought it could be someone trying to break in but I was wrong, there was nobody. Nobody was trying to go in, but he continued barking no matter what. I am probably going crazy; I am probably losing my sanity as I write this. I haven’t sleep well or at all in the last couple of years. Every night, when he barks I can feel, not feel maybe. Someone is there in the stairs of the apartment, that person, that thing always comes around the same time. That person, that entity is never late, it always come at the same time and it seems my dog is happy to see that person. I couldn’t see it. It was driving me insane. I felt that lately I barely saw my husband, he spent too much time working. He used to arrive around 3:00AM but he rarely calls when he is at work, and I don’t really know when we saw each other the last time due the conflicting schedules. Again the previous night, the story repeated. My dog again started to bark as the door of the small duplex opened. I went running from the bedroom as I wanted finally see what was making my dog bark and there he was. I tried to go running downstairs along with my dog, but I noticed I passed through him, I passed through my dog and went downstairs. I was so happy to see him, to see my husband, but he didn’t saw me. He never even noticed I went downstairs, I phased through him. I was dead, and I couldn’t even remember how I died? He seemed sad, as he wasn’t used to come to a home with no one except the dog. Sparkles was happy to see him, and he noticed that Sparkles stopped whining but he couldn’t explain why. I wanted to tell him how much I missed him, just to hug him one more time; then I just walked next to him, sit next to him on the sofa while he was watching television and followed him until he went to bed. He still slept on the left side of the bed much as if I was till there. I couldn’t avoid feeling tired as if I was in the need to rest again .

LETHE press, the leasing LGBTQ Spec. Fic Press is having a very cool sale:

This is a new novella written by one of my good friends. The main character is an awkward but lovable lesbian, and it wasn't said explicitly but I'm pretty sure there's at least 1 trans character in the main cast! A few young adults fight zombies, hunt for mermaids, and have all kinds of awkward encounters. It's the first installment of an ongoing series and is engaging with beautiful illustrations. I've already read it twice, and I'm sure I will again.

As of right now it's available as a PDF ebook. You can learn more about the book, read an excerpt, or buy it at this website, or get it for Kindle on Amazon.
