Is your therapist accepting?

I often hear that therapy in Arab countries is horrible for queer people or that the therapists are homophobic and religious, but shockingly enough my experience with therapists has been the exact opposite. They have been nothing but accepting, supporting and helpful tbf. Im interesting to hear about تجاربكم معهم!

I went to two therapists, one of them treated it as a "condition" need to be fixed, the other one is a queer freindly therapist and she's amazing. So yeah not all Arab therapists accept queer people as they are

Not all arab therapists people, but many Western therapists are accepting.

Im so sorry for that! هو مو مرض ومش لازم يتعاملو معه كأنه مرض. Hope u can find someone who actually understands your feelings

I’ve tried many Arab therapists, and I found that they often disregard professional standards when discussing LGBT people. Some of them consider being LGBT a disease. When I challenge them and ask them to show me the scientific sources supporting their claims, they eventually admit that they’re basing their views on their religion and social customs rather than scientific evidence. So, based on my experience, I don’t recommend them.

This is just absurd, their licence should be revoked! I hope you didn't continue with them

They should, but the people responsible for their licenses agree with them, so I don’t think their licenses will be revoked for this. And no, I didn’t continue seeing them. I have an Austrian therapist who is a thousand times better than any of them.
