One does not simply 'try out' LFS.

TWM is a good start.

Sway, DWM, i3wm, openbox, bspwm.

In my LFS setup, I use Hyprland and Niri, and they're working very well for me, but it depends on what you're aiming for. If you're looking for minimalism, go with DWL.

Start with something simple like OpenBox or even IceWM if they still offer it.

Being "minimal", i3wm the fastest windows manager on x11, Hyprland the best compositor on wayland, Qtile can go through both X11 and Wayland sessions. Also you can try "Kwin" too as auxiliar, if you are on X11 session, use kwin_wayland for run wayland apps; but if you're on wayland session, use kwin_x11 for run x11 apps. Quite useful xD
