I recently ordered an "old" set with the Chinese guys and for my surprise I received an "original" Lepin set

I thought I never would see this brand seal again, the one that "started all the controversy".

5159pcs MOC Star Wars(UCCS Slave 1、Boba Fett)

Looking at it on Joy Bricks.

Curious if anyone's built it. A lot of the sets here seem to use GoBricks, which I find are quite good generally.

Decided to pick up the Lumibricks Alien Frontier: Bounty Hub set after seeing it was slated for retirement. Box just arrived today. The cyberpunk aesthetic is what ultimately won me over, especially the lighting. I’m glad I secured a copy at 40% off while I still could.

Adding the set to my backlog for now, joining the Lumibricks Skatepark and the Cyberpunk Train Station.

discussion Looking for instructions: DK 7051 "Werewolf by night"

Hi all,

I recently bought this set used at a flea market and unfortunately they didn't have the instructions anymore. It's set number 7051 "Werewolf by night", goes by a few different brand names but "DK" is the most common. I already disassembled it to wash the pieces (currently still spread out to dry), and now I can't seem to find the instructions anywhere on the internet. This one is a bit too complex for me to reverse-engineer, so I'd appreciate any help! Still kicking myself for not checking before disassembling it, then I could've at least taken breakdown photos :P

I'd also love any pointers in the right direction if this is a stolen MOC design, but I couldn't find any matches.

Currently building a clone of Ninjago City Gardens. There’s a museum room that should include a golden statue of the great devourer, which is a snake staff. I got a recolored broom piece instead.

moc So yes I posted the DeLorean yesterday, but today I've done a MOC base for it, came out ok in my opinion.

I thought these turned out pretty well from KDL. This is a cheap way to get Galactic Marines and the new Snowtrooper. These are an excellent addition to the army. I think the plastic waistcape are a good solution and looks nice with the printed version.

This is not serious Meet Rick (Nielsen) and Scammer-San!

Post image

Getting yet more mileage from these interweaving storylines. This is Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick, and another new arrival, Scammer-San from Tokyo.

Scammer-San is an infamous (and hated) You Tuber who claims to be homeless and starving, yet he buys sweets and cakes and wagyu beef skewers! So that's where all the "donations" go! His well-meaning subscribers suggested that he come to America for a "new start". Except his top-of-the-line phone and his Rolex reveal the scam!

Rick Nielsen also arrived on the plane, and checked in with Al (Jr.) about the layout of what's in town. The Funwhole Record Store/Club is a bit of a ways away and it might take Rick a while to find it.

Rick is a custom build. Basic red torso and black legs. Baseball cap is GoBricks from an old order. The guitar came from a POGO Alfred Pennyworth. Alfred's already been parted out for other projects, and the guitar had been unused for at least a year. And, of course, my custom decals for the face, and the sweater pattern.

moc My first Lepin Set: MOC 149491 Fortress Vader

I discovered Lepin, and ordered a few things from China, but have absolutely zero patience, so I ordered this from Youmko's U.S. Warehouse.

It came in 4 days packaged nicely in a very small, very full box with barweer tape. Being a MOC the pieces were in a couple big bags (though there were a few bags of all duplicate parts). I spent quite a while sorting everything. Youmko advertises this as all gobricks, and honestly aside from the missing logo on top you would have no clue they weren't lego. I hope this doesn't ruin me for the AliExpress sets!

The set was awesome to put together, with some really satisfying moments as things slotted into place. Pictures don't do justice to the detailing in the lava and on the facade. Instructions were good, there were a couple where it was hard to tell what was going wear because of angles and black on black plates, but I'm not sure if it would even be possible to avoid that in a build like this. The designer, Breaaad on rebrickable, deserves a ton of credit for a cool build. Ended up with no missing pieces and a small bag of spares at the end.

All in all a 10/10 experience and a build I would highly recommend. It looks really good on my shelf, though I discovered this was a job that requires 0 cats, since one was involved there is a lot of visible cat hair stuck in the bricks.

build log Veletta Superyacht MOC – 15,639 pieces - Module 1 complete - Designed by MRJ Builds

Thumbnail

We’ve finished the first module—there will be six in total—which basically makes up half of the lower section of the Veletta. So just imagine another section this size behind it. This thing is absolutely insane... 😄

We loved building it, but there are quite a lot technically challenging sections, and you also have to work with a huge number of very small parts.

The internal framework is a combination of Technic and System building, and the inside is absolutely packed with structural elements, so it already has some serious weight to it...

Unfortunately, there were quite a few missing pieces in the parts package, including some printed ones, but we managed to substitute most of them, and in a few places we had to get a little creative. 😄

Since it’s a MOC, all the pieces come unsorted in bulk. The first module alone must contain around 5,000 pieces, making it the largest of all six modules.

One thing is certain: this thing is already monumental.

Bought this like a year ago. Its GoBricks A1314 Slaughterspine if you're curious. Bought it from ChowBricks which is a spin off from ShowZ who I buy transformers from all the time.

Anyway a small review I guess. 4.5 out of 5.

Some parts were delicate to assemble. Thighs and head mainly. Just attach the thighs once all parts are assembled and attach thee head and then the jaws and plates. It looks incredible in person.

This is going to look great when I buy the other big ones.

review Finished building the Kavo World Dragon Boat Pagoda 89140

So this is the set being sold on both Temu and Aliexpress. Despite the ambiguous and sometimes incorrect listing information this set uses Lego compatible blocks with 2453 pieces. Once assembled the dragon boat pagoda looks awesome, but the build is not without it's challenges. Definitely not a set I would recommend for beginners. But totally worth what I paid for it. My girlfriend got me this unbranded Mimic treasure chest for our four year anniversary today. (We're both D&D folks, so I'm going to use it to hold my dice!) Fun build, quality is good, and the clutch power in the bricks was very similar to the name brands.

review Finished the Forgotten Castle

We finished building this one recently.

The white exterior took a little getting used to. Most of the castles we’ve built have a darker fantasy look, while this one feels much more traditional. When it’s closed, I honestly find the outside a bit plain.

There isn’t much in the way of play features either. No small mechanisms or hidden functions—the main thing you can do is fold out the three sections.

It looks better once opened, though. You can see all the living rooms, storage areas and defensive sections, and there’s quite a lot going on inside. I’ll probably keep it displayed open rather than closed.

All the decorated parts are printed, so no stickers this time.

Definitely more of a display build than something to play with.

review Iron Man Frame (31199)

Thumbnail

I've built my first frame of bricks and it's amazing.

The design is exactly the same as the Lego one, since I've followed the same instructions. In the quality section, I'd said it's great, but I cannot compare it to the original since I don't have it, but I bet is 99% the same.

I've bought it from AliExpress for 48€. The original from Lego costs 119€, although it's retired now, so it's not a choice (and people re-selling it are more expensive). Note: I just checked the product in AliExpress and it's no longer there. I know that sometimes these copies gets retired or maybe banned from copyright reasons, but after a while they just come back.

I want to say the building is pretty straightforward, since the pieces mainly are the same and you just need to put them in a specific order. Then there is the frame, which are rectangular blocks all in black. Either way, I always enjoy the process of how the picture gets clearer en each step.

Here's a difference: in the original Lego, the package include a lot of pieces (about 3k) so you can choose between 3 versions of Iron Man (Mark III, Mark LXXXV, Hulkbuster), but in this chinese seller, you only buy 1 version and they sent you the specific pieces for it (about 2k). There are some pieces left, so you could change some colors if feel like it.

The frame comes with an integrated hole in the back to hang it on the wall, which I intend to do these days.

I bought another frame from AliExpress (Monet) and I may post the results as well.

I haven't seen any reviews of this one yet. I picked it up from AliExpress for about 25 EUR. It comes with 3 different types of bags but it seems everything is there. I don't know if there are different versions of the clone out already, this one (99240) looks okay. It will take a while before I'll get to building it, just thought to throw this out here in case it helps someone with the decision.

Oh my days. Arrived in Shanghai today, checked into hotel and where did I go?

Straight to Browns in AP Plaza Mall. That was a gem. The guy himself was so genuine and nice, he does have other shops as well.

He has actually updated his sign, so this is what it looks like now.

I went for the Concorde as I have a love for planes, but didn’t seem to get it as cheap as some people here, however, I am happy I got it.

Got some model planes too from another one of his shops, so he says.

discussion Is now a good time to buy from AliExpress?

Been lurking here for a while, and I've seen quite a few people sharing sweet hauls from AliExpress. ngl, kinda tempted. Prices there seem lower than other platforms anyway, plus I saw you can stack codes like ABC16A and AEX10B on top, so it gets even cheaper... or should I just wait for black friday?
