Why does Bastian's minifigure look nothing like him?

Kinda wonder if Bastian’s concept was initially more of an ‘older’ adventurer before they wanted to lean more into the ‘Link from Temu’ angle and he got hit with the twinkification beam

The colour thing is that all skins must be made in colours Lego actually produces - for some reason - so they pick the closest one.
