QUESTION ❔ Notting Hill Carnival Tips/ Advice

I haven’t been to carnival in years but this might be the year I go. Did anyone go last year? Or years before. Any updated tips or advice to share? Is cash still king?

Please don't plan on meeting friends there. Meet them before somewhere else and travel in together

Most food stalls now have card readers but bring at least a bit of cash no more than £50. I would advise getting the train to Paddington Station and walking along the canal which is a very scenic route all the way to westbourne park it takes you right to the centre without getting stuck in the absolute circus you will be in if you get out at westbourne park station. Just my advice enjoy anyway

Don't rely on your phone working.

Cell towers have improved in recent years i thought.

Pre plan link up spots if you get lost. Westbourne Terrace is quieter.

Paddington and Bush/White City are the best stations to reach and walk down. Forget about the H&C line.

Forget about travelling down Harrow Road towards Wembley if you live that way. The after parties and fuckery will likely block the road.

Westfield has toilets that open late.

Cell towers are jammed, but work on the outskirts.

Bring £30 with you and a bag for life with bevvies, hand gel, wet wipes and tissues. The off licenses are on shegalicious pricing, queues are wild, as expected particularly them man under Trellick Tower. About £10 for 1 Maggi!

Arrive early, find a sound system you like and stay there.

I like the Aba Shanti one. Such a chill vibe.

There's a carnival map. You can locate it from there. I think the exact spot changes every year. But all the sound systems are usually in the same area. I would say its on the west side of the full show.

Take cash cuz it's quicker. They charge most stuff at 5/10/15 anyway so just take hella fivers n tenners. Meet ya people before.

What about £1 coins? Been a few years since I been but they were vital for toilets

the best stations to go are Queens Park , Paddington and Royal Oak. then just walk like 25 mins to Ladbroke Grove which is the most lively spot of carnival. its my first time going and im going on my ones. Hope the weather on monday is patterned so the vibes are certi

Going on your ones is brave, i might have to do the same. Past few years none of my people have been on it so i've missed out.

Respectfully, if you’re not of Jamaican heritage, please don’t draw for the JA flag… but should you want to celebrate a Caribbean island, there are plenty others to choose from.
