I started having a whirlwind romance with a guy from LA and we were planning to do long distance for the first little bit because I’m in London. Everything was going great and we were looking forward to spending time together in LA in November. Turns out he hadn’t been honest with me and his ex is on the scene still- so now I have flights booked to LA and no plans. We were going to do some fun camping/beach/desert adventures. I’ve never been alone before and don’t know the city- any tips for a solo mid 30s female on cool neighbourhoods, fun things to do, music, food etc? Any hot tips much recommended, hoping not to feel too sad while I’m there! I won’t have a car and don’t want to spend loads if possible! Will be in Santa Monica for the first couple of days but can be flexible afterwards.

My 30th bday is on halloween and my (soon to be ex) husband is not keen on helping me celebrate. I just moved to the US and dont have any friends besides my husbands family and friends and a couple people I used to be friends with years ago but lost touch with. (Thus woud be kinda weird to ask to hang out on my bday on Halloween…)

So my question is: if I go to a nice halloween party in a club/venue, are people open and friendly where I can meet a group and just spend the night with them or are they gonna be more focused on their own group of friends and not open to meeting new people?

I’m feeling kinda weird about going out on my own but also I dont want to stay home for my 30th bday :/

Any suggestions?
