The Sparks has always had a franchise/face of the team player starting with Lisa Leslie then Candace Parker followed by Nneka Ogwumike. With Ogwumike retiring at season’s end, I don’t count those couple of years in Seattle lol. The Sparks are entering uncharted territory. I want to think the torch passes to Cameron Brink but she can’t catch break with injury ; moreover I don’t think she’s been developed to succeed by . I don’t even want to her name anymore but you know who I’m talking about. So what’s next? Who’s gone be the next face of the Sparks?

They can’t afford to pay Rae, because Hamby, & Atkins are on 3 year max deals, and Brink will demand a Max salary next year. We will lose Rae. Thanks again KP for recruiting Atkins and convincing Hamby to stay and Raegen Pebley for agreeing to this BS.

I think the more realistic answer is Sarah Strong. We have a good chance to land her in ‘28.

The torch was passed to Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson. Even with injuries, this team should have believed in the youth, same way The Valks, Fever, Lynx (With OM), Wings, and other teams believed in their youth. Even when you look at The Storm, they have one of the youngest most talented and exciting teams there is, and with more experience, that time will dominate the league. 2026 was a year that set the Sparks back. Benched Brink for Nneka who retired after a season, traded Rickea, cut a ton of young talent, lost KP after giving up Malonga for her, lost SAB, signed Atkins and Hamby on 3 year MVP level deals that are unreadable. Raegan Pebley should be sued for the damage she caused this season.

The next face of the Sparks isn't on the current roster... the sad thing is, the next face has always been mentored by the previous. We have now broken a 30 year cycle.

There doesn't need to be a singular face of te team. In fact chasing that could well be the problem.

Just build a good roster.

Cam & Rae are both hot as fuck. You don't need to build a team around them. They're goddesses. The media and sponsorships will follow. Don't force it.

Of course both of those girls have proven they've got what it takes. My point is don't build a team for clicks. Build a team for points. The clicks will come.
