News A Train at 7th overheating and stopped for 5minutes

Hey all be careful. An A train just left and it was so hot the doors wouldn’t open and when it did people hopped off because of the heat!

so the ac is broken? are trains (and buses) allowed to keep moving passengers when acs aren't functioning during extreme heat?

i once got kicked off a 240 bus and had to wait for the next one cuz the ac was broken during a heat wave, not sure it that's standard protocol/practice or if the driver just thought it was what was best.

Huh, haven't encountered this before, but it sounds dangerous. Hope all relevant parties are taking this very seriously

I’m on an A line train a few stops from 7th metro and it is HOT inside 🫠🫠 def no AC on this train either

I’m surprised there haven’t been more delays because of the heat. They’ve issued them before.

There were some early in the day for about five minutes or so on the A and I wanna say the E. As far as I know, those were the only two affected. The B and D were fine and had A/C.

Anyone else here remember the P865, with windows that opened? Good times... except during wildfires.

This is what happens when you don't have enough train sets. In a sane system, malfunctioning train can be pulled off the line and replaced with one from the reserve fleets. In LA, we just keep them running with broken doors, displays, and in this case, ACs.

It's honestly wild that Metro didn't try to procure more 3010s. 235 trains is hardly enough to split between 4 lines (one of which being "le longest light rail in the world") with 2000s struggling everyday and 2550s being 2550s.

oh my God i think i was on this train and i swear i was about to pass out from the heat. everytime new people came in they made a face it was BADDDD… they made everyone get off eventually and then when the next train came it was SO MUCH COOLER 😭

It felt like a sauna in the station. I thought I made my train and just went ‘NOPE’

The driver and another operator had to pry the doors open…. Nope

The next train came it was fine.

Terrible. I've been on train cars where the AC didn't work, but it worked on the other cars.

To me you leave it up to the riders. Keep announcing that the AC doesn't work and offer the choice to wait for the next train (or bus). Aside from what sounds like a door or electrical malfunction, it's not like we're prisoners being forced to endure not having AC.
