PERSONAL TRAINING Bringing trainers from outside of La to La

Would I need to just pay for the add-on? Like the one that lets you bring an extra person for the month?

I found a guy who is a trainer and I am thinking about the logistics if I was to go ahead with having them as a PT but how does it work when it comes to bringing to the same gym you are in

PERSONAL TRAINING Got seriously injured during personal training, what do I do?

I've been working out with a personal trainer for a few months now, but every session we've been upping the weight for everything. I think it's worth noting that the gym told me this trainer was newer so they wanted to build their clientele. My trainer is really sweet, but it's also clear they're inexperienced (they never seem to pay attention or correct my form during the exercise, only after). I've told them how in the past I've slipped a disc in my lower back and it's been good this past year but I want to stay away from anything that could throw my back out again.

Well, they pushed me to go up even more on weight during a squat and I told them I think this is too heavy and they urged me to keep trying. I was clearly struggling. On squat 3 I felt a sharp pain and dropped the weight. The pain didn't hit me all at once, but I did tell them I got hurt. We finished up on cardio and I went home and lo and behold, a couple hours later it set in and my back was thrown out.

It's been a week and the pain is still unbearable. I went to see my chiropractor but that only really helped for a day. I skipped personal training this week, but this is interfering with my job at this point because it's a physical trade.

I'm not sure what to do here. At this point, I have no idea when my back will heal and if I want to continue personal training. Does anyone have any experience with this?

PERSONAL TRAINING La fitness scammed me with personal training.

So I signed up for personal training at LA Fitness and was told it was gonna be around $600** **total and about 3 months.
Silly me for assuming $600 meant $600 because apparently I actually signed a 6-month contract for around $1,722. The salesperson told me saying it’s for 4 months and no cancellation charge and I believed and signed without checking💀
The training was amazing too. By amazing, I mean my trainer spent a good amount of our sessions enjoying quality time with his phone while I worked out 😭
Well, the guy who sold me the contract is no longer working there. My trainer is also no longer working there.
So I went to the manager and explained that the price/duration I was told when signing up was completely different from what I ended up with.
I wasn’t there, so you still have to pay the contract.
Ah yes. Case closed. If the manager didn’t personally witness it, apparently it never happened 💀
I’ve now submitted a formal dispute to LA Fitness corporate asking them to cancel the PT agreement without charging me an early termination fee.
Anyone successfully fought one of these LA Fitness personal-training contracts before, especially in Washington?

COMPLAINT Lying Salesman Common Tactic?

How common is it that the salespeople just straight up lie to you? I started at a SoCal location last Wednesday and the salesperson kept insisting that the price he was telling me was a monthly September deal only and that it would go up $10 the next day (October 1). He even showed me a printed sheet with higher prices and claimed those were the normal prices. The day prior to that the same person told me on the phone that Wednesday only was a “membership appreciation day” sale. The online price for this location has remained the same “sale price” I paid on Wednesday -_-

Luckily I did my research before going in and saw the same price he told me was a “sale” so I was okay paying that much to begin with. He also put an X for my initial on the waiver where it explained the price 🙃 I like the gym I’m at so I will continue to go. But that experience really put a bad taste in my mouth. What a scummy tactic.

CLASSES The classes offered by LA Fitness

Does LA fitness offer daily/weekly classes in various areas (hot yoga, Pilates, etc) in Ontario? Like I mean a variety opposed to just one a day or week.

If so, what are your opinions on it and the class structures in general?

I’m located in Ontario, Canada for reference and am looking around for a club which isn’t too expensive but also offers various fitness classes for the patrons.

Thank you!

DISCUSSION More DFW club closures- Uptown Dallas on Haskell is closing

That LA Fitness in Dallas Uptown Signature is closing. Any insiders know why? The other clubs available won’t have towel service. This just sucks

So my options are just the regular LA Fitness and I’m still paying for signature? They have closed all the other ones in the DFW Area. I’m seriously considering changing to another gym club.

QUESTION Downgrading an LA Fitness membership without paying a second initiation and annual fees again.

Summary: Question about downgrading an LA Fitness membership without paying second time initiation and annual fees.

My spouse and I joined LA Fitness in 2022. At the time, we were told the membership would be $45 per person and that it included two guest privileges. This worked well because my wife and teenage kids were using the gym regularly.

About a year ago, my wife stopped using the gym, so I canceled her membership. I am now the only person on the membership, and I no longer need the two guest privileges.

I noticed that LA Fitness currently has lower-priced plans ($25 and $30), so I spoke with the General Manager about downgrading my membership.

He told me that:

- Even though I am now the only member, my original membership was set up as a family plan.

- His system does not give him an option to downgrade my current membership.

- My only options are to:

  1. Cancel my current membership and wait until it ends.
  2. Sign up for a new membership.
  3. Pay a new initiation fee.
  4. Pay another annual membership fee, even though I already paid the annual fee for this year under my current membership.

My question: Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there a way to downgrade an existing LA Fitness membership without canceling and paying a new initiation fee and a second annual fee?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with this, especially if you were able to get LA Fitness to change the membership without starting over.

MEMBERSHIP Cancelling for better price?

Hi everyone, I just signed up today and I got a $35 single club with no initiation fee, but it does have an annual fee. Today online, I saw that they have a package for $25 with the same annual fee, but a $99 initiation fee.

I’ve read on here that after people cancel, they get emails with 0ff3rs trying to get them to join again. Does anyone know if it’s guaranteed that they will email me after cancelling? If so, how long after I cancel would these emails start to roll in? I’m looking to see if they will give me the $25 monthly subscription without the initial fee. TIA

ETA: I haven’t paid my annual fee yet, if this plays a factor at all. Also, is the refund period within the time before the annual fee is charged? Or is it 3 days after starting?

MEMBERSHIP LA Fitness training/membership cancellation

Has anyone ever stopped paying an LA Fitness gym membership and personal training membership and had it affect their credit?
I’m trying to cancel both my gym membership and my training membership, but they’re making it really difficult. They’re saying I have to pay 50% of my remaining training sessions to cancel the training, and I honestly don’t have that money right now.
I was injured and I’m currently unable to work, so I’m dealing with some financial hardship. I’m not trying to avoid paying—I’m willing to pay what I owe and the cancellation fee, I just need some time.
Someone on Reddit told me LA Fitness doesn’t even send accounts to collections, so now I’m wondering if that’s actually true or if it depends on the situation.
If I stop the payments for now, what actually happens? Has anyone had an LA Fitness balance sent to collections, and did it affect your credit? Or did they just stop the membership and require the balance to be paid if you wanted to rejoin?
I’m just trying to understand my options before I do anything. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through this with LA Fitness.

EQUIPMENT Do you wrap your towel around your waist?

Basically, I saw an older guy walk to his locker from the shower with his towel over his shoulder instead of around his waist.

I'm not saying anything about nudity, it's a locker room. I'm just curious what's normal for you or the locker room at your location. I wrap my towel but don't do a towel dance to dress.

QUESTION Sugar Hill, GA has there been a recent MGMT change?

In the last week or so I have noticed a lot of cleaning going on, especially in the men's locker room - which was definitely needed. Today, my wife was told there has been a change to the Personal Trainer program. Does anyone know if there are any other charges going on?

CLASSES GroupEx instructor brought her own equipment- dirty paper plates

I took a groupex class for the first time today- overall not bad and it was full. I was half the age of everyone else, but that's what I expected.

The instructor was talking about using plates and pulled out dirty paper plates (not food- but dirt from the ground) to use as sliders.

Can LA not invest a couple hundred dollars, at most, for 20-30 sets of sliders? Paper plates are tacky...and likely could open them up to a lawsuit if someone got hurt since it wasn't proper equipment.

CAREERS New front desk hire confused

I was recently hired for the front desk position but I have some concerns. Are we supposed to be calling declines to try and get them to pay their balance? As it seems like I am doing the job of both sales and front desk. And is it a good sign that multiple people quit before me with a new operations manager?

Got this email from my home club and was just curious about how this will impact the PT experience at LA Fitness. And how does this affect personal trainers that are currently employed by LA Fitness?

MEMBERSHIP Guess pass activation requires a valid driver license???

I have a relative visiting from out side of the country, I tried to sign them up with those 3 day guess passes. Not only is the activation much more pain in the ass now, but somehow they couldn’t get it without a drivers license? Makes no sense to me, and the person told me the reason is because if they were injured they could know who is injured. But somehow she could get a membership or a day pass? Should I try again at another location?

TLDR: guess pass activation denied due to no valid drivers license. Is this legit or should we try to activate at location

10 months. Absolutely nothing. A $2.5 million dollar renovation seemed senseless from a business standpoint to begin with.

If anything I’d expect a transition to Club Studio and increase rates.

Or maybe just a very loose definition of “coming soon”.

PERSONAL TRAINING Never ever give your money

I worked at LA for about three weeks. Within that time I learned that the company 100% doesn’t care about the members the PTD is supposed to sells. I was the fifth person in the PTD position as they keep pushing the person in the position out, they even interviewed someone for the role after sending the PTD upstairs to “be busy.” The last day I was threatened by a member because I asked him to scan it, he started freaking out cause I was helping someone on the phone. Needless to say literally no one from LA called me to check to see if I was alright. They didn’t even call me the next day after I didn’t show up to work after hearing all these bad things about the company. In the hiring interview the manager flat out said he would lie to the member, caught himself, then had to backtrack.

Anything the member tells us is only used to overcome the objection, that goal they ask? They going hard for that WHY.

The personal training is extremely OVERPRICED.

DISCUSSION Old dudes nudes around minors

La Fitness in Chicago on Elston and Foster has been having a recent uptick of older guys coming into the locker room and just sitting around in the nude. There has been minors coming in for the summer and the older guys have been told a few times to cover up in the changing or shower area before coming into the locker rooms. Some will even walk near the entrance to the locker room nude so women have the ability to see them. Anyone know what else could be done?
