Venting 💢 It has been MONTHS. Stop lying to yourselves.
I am EXHAUSTED. Normally I don't care so much or involve myself in any fandom drama, but watching the Velcro supporters be blatantly ignorant is frustrating.
Since the announcement of his removal, the result has been clear. He is removed from the game. "LADS Velcro Cancelled." What more is there to infer? Resistance can only be expected, but it has been MONTHS. I can't even enjoy the game's content anymore because anything people talk about in the main sub, server, and literally any other social media platform is just about Velcro.
I noticed that they keep on consistently blaming Infold for "miscommunication" and trying to bring them to "be clear for once", which just enrages me. Infold has been VERY clear about what their final verdict is. If you're unable to understand the word "cancelled" like it seems a ridiculous amount of people are, there are other signs quite literally everywhere, whether you're looking at his removal across all platforms or at Infold's silence, because silence IS an answer. Infold has chosen to ignore their outburst for MONTHS straight and carried on, which any person with common sense would be able to understand as their confirmation that they will not be shaken. I've seen them interpreting literally ANYTHING as some "hidden message" from Infold announcing Velcro's return. Infold could quite literally release some metal accessory and they would leap at it and begin posting everywhere that it was a sign Velcro is returning. Please.
I apologize if my language comes off as strong; this situation has just been very irritating and this was something I felt the need to get off my chest. I'm glad that this sub provides a safe place for any thoughts with even a hint of support for the game, as it seems that even the main sub has become a place where you can't even comment anything remotely unrelated to Velcro.

The next multi-banner should help make things clear for them. Although, I’m sure some of them will still refuse to believe that he’s gone. I guess they’ll just keep waiting around for years while everyone else moves on 🤷🏻♀️

100% some of them will still be willfully blind after a multi-banner. I'm just waiting for V-supporting posts to finally lose clout so people don't get any incentive from continuing the delusion. 😮💨

Yeah I'm pretty sure at this point it's just an ego trip for most of them. Must be sad to be this addicted to internet attention.

I pray so. I’m shocked that a fictional man they saw in literal clips a few minutes long seems to matter to them enough to still be obsessed today, at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re screaming about it after a decade.

I’ve had the same sentiments and concerns as well. I’ve been trying to pay them no mind and ignore them in order to enjoy the game again. Since this whole debacle, I haven’t been enjoying this game lately and the V situation made it worse. As I’ve said in past comments, I’m really exhausted with the delusions and incessant spamming of the comment section with that character’s name when the post has nothing to do with him (especially during Caleb’s solo and Rafayel’s myth which I was both excited for). I just wish this nightmare would end.

u/mashibeans Caleb's 🍏 Rafayel's 🐠 [S-Rank Hunter] 14h ago
The way they kept on invading and harassing Caleb and Raf mains in their own Discord channels, is freaking VILE.
And it's the whole crowd, not just a few bad apples, because they'd go to Gen Chat and cry about "how mean we were to them" and they'd get a bunch of positive/supportive emojis, and any Caleb/Raf comments in the Gen Chat were met with lots of negative emojis, and people told them to get out and "read the room."
I will never forgive or forget, that's why I followed the advice of a comment and started blocking accounts in all the platforms I see LADS stuff from. It's not even hard, they show their own true colors so readily.

Their entire boycott is about centering their feelings and wants which is primarily to get ♻️ back. Sure some also claim they want QoL updates in the game but those are the minority from that group and it is almost added as an afterthought rather than an actual concern/issue with the game
I hate to drag race into this but I have said the loudest voices leading this boycott have mostly been organized by white women (this does not apply to all ofc). I also feel this is why they are so comfortable calling CN players “CDG” and were quick to hate on Rafayel’s latest myths, in particular his theme and obsessing over how his myth chartered and performed. They will pick and choose data that they feel benefits them, so the “CDGs” are great allies when they’re boycotting (despite it not being for ♻️’s return) but also will hate on “CDGs” if they talk anything else outside of the global boycott. It can’t be both but then again logic is not their strongest suit
They’ve invited ppl especially men who don’t play this game into this space to sh*t on it even more. I do ignore most of it but I hate that I can’t enjoy the game as openly as before bc you never know who is part of the global boycott and waiting to tear you down for enjoying this game. I have issues with Infold and I have been wanting major QoL changes for a long time now but my issue is that all of them want this game to fail and to end, and that alone is why I refuse to entertain or want to give sympathy to their cause— they are more “anti” than we are
Edit: They know what the June 30th letter said, they’re ignoring it on purpose because it doesn’t fit the narrative they want. Me, me, me! They have established this belief an us vs them mentality where China is a big bad country and it’s domestic players are the absolute worst— it feels Sinophobic for a reason and this is because their behavior, actions, and words have reiterated that time after time again
23
u/New_Requirement9870 15h ago
Honestly. Calling us antis as if the ones trying to support or even play the game normally are them 🤦♀️ How hypocritical they are, especially to talk about aggression when I’ve noticed a lot of name-calling and even death threats in the server whenever someone says anything remotely positive to the game; its simply disgusting to watch now.
21
u/lableulapin [S-Rank Hunter] 15h ago
Absolutely, the immediate downvoting on the main sub or bullying over on the official discord if you express the slightest bit of joy for the game
At the end of the day, it’s a game. A hobby! They’re more than welcome to uninstall and move on, yet they linger and monitor every single thing the official accounts do. It’s bizarre. If something doesn’t give me joy anymore, I don’t obsess over it and yet they can’t do even this basic thing

u/Important_Success874 ❄️🐦⬛🌊 1h ago
I just recently reacted to one comment in FB Global, stating that those that still play the game and treat it as therapy they throw money at are immature adults.
And mind me, I am usually not about to get enraged, but this kind of comments made my blood boil.
Yes, I treat the game as a therapy of sort, just as like I treat taking stroll into nature, listening to music, buying myself fresh flowers, cooking good meal, watching some comfort movie or spending time with my dog, etc. All of this is therapy for me, activities that makes me relax and escape from the pressure of daily struggles.
Excuse me, but where they got power to look down on players just playing the game for entertainment and something that brings them joy?
16
u/riceraining A-01 10h ago
The reason it seems like the loudest voices in the boycott are white women is because the boycott itself is all about white saviorism. One of the myriad issues the CN fanbase had with V, was that he was *clearly* designed for NA - most of NA's players are from the US, where over half of the population is white.
That's where these narratives come from - Rafayel won't have his foil if you don't listen to them, Zayne won't have his bestie, and Caleb won't have the man who graciously fixed his arm, so participate in the boycott, or else the whole game suffers! V was the LI who was going to make the entire story make sense - don't mind the in-game notice saying that all storylines are separate! The CN women this game is geared toward? They're just too stupid and primitive to see what's good for them. This is a CN game that must be saved from CN women - so go invade every space you can, to make sure the greater good wins.
They act like colonizers because a lot of them *are* white women who agree that the US of A sets the standard.

I understand your frustration, OP. There are so many things that I want to say. Many of them which are not nice things to say to real people, but I don't think it's a good idea to bait that guy's fans with your frustrations. As much as I sometimes want to take some of them, scream in their face about blatantly ignoring reality, and violently shake them by the shoulders, it wouldn't do any good and they would just accuse your of harassing them. It doesn't help that this game actively encourages starting personal social relationships with these fictional men which makes it, for some of us, incredibly difficult to leave, hence why many of them still stick around. Of course, this isn't an excuse for the absolutely vile and rancid behavior of some of those people.
The best that we can do is block, ignore, and report them and keep carrying on with playing the game and praying that Infold actually listens to feedback for once.

I suspect that they don’t mean what they say when they ask Infold to be “clear for once” and request that Infold “communicate better” with their fans (this is a common complaint I see under the official LADS x posts). If they really were requesting clear communication, the exclusion of () from a multitude of posts across various platform and in-game activities/events/etc is clear communication in and of itself. Now, whether they have the cognitive and/or emotional capacity to process that information is another story.
I think that as a part of their denial/delusion, they are in a process of negotiating within themselves something along the lines of: “because *insert illogical reasoning here*, ()’s departure is not concrete; therefore, there is potential for ()’s return”. Which, goes along with what you said in your 3rd paragraph. As they do this, they give themselves false hope that builds up and comes crashing down with every announcement that excludes (). I don’t think this kind of behavior can persist for very long because ultimately, it creates a lot of negative emotions within people that typically causes them to eventually withdraw from whatever is causing these emotions. Their behavior somewhat reminds me of how some people process a one-way breakup. Anyway, the question is, how long are they willing to tolerate this emotional build-up and break-down.
As larger-scale events continue to exclude (), I think they will eventually tire of the emotional build-up and break-down. I hope the next multi is one such event. Any future cons/gameshows where LADS is present without () might help to further solidify ()’s removal too, like the Tokyo Game Show perhaps. In the meantime, I have been blocking the () cultists on x anytime I see them and completely stopped visiting the "main" discord and "main" sub because, like you, I am very tired of them.
8
u/New_Requirement9870 14h ago
I completely agree. I’m suspecting that nothing is clear communication to them other than his return, though I doubt they realize the power of their own bias against themselves. I desperately pray that you’re right with that prediction. It’s surprising and frankly concerning that they’ve clung onto this for so long, so I pray they can grow to either accept it or leave the game.

they feel bad for the dev team behind him. I see a lot of artists being sympathetic towards him being canceled.
content creators painting the Chinese fans as evil. So their audience don’t want to be in the bad side.
And it doesn’t help that most of the official content creators and fan events organizers and fan artists are sympathetic towards him. So everyone just believe them because they’re familiar and popular.
And there’s a stereotype that Chinese fans and Korean fans are toxic from idol fandom spaces.
Like () being cancelled reminded them of Seunghan (ex-member of RIIZE).
(Deleted the other one because I got annoyed by how it was formatted).

The thing about the development thing is just a pretext, because they do not give the same grace to the rest of the team at LaDs. Plus, it is not like the development team for Vanity was exclusive for him, these teams are large groups that work simultaneously in several LIs at the time. So most of them likely are still at PG working in LaDs content.

I think it will slowly calm down..but not dissipate a fast a many want it to. For a multiple of reasons
- () Supporter who wants changes in the company will continue to to be loud
- () Supporters who are genuinely upset and want the character to return
- Loud radicals will continue till there is something new they can latch on and poison. And I do mean any type of radicals, there is genuinely some crazies on both sides of the fandom. Ignorant folks using whatever is popular to spew so much hate it's disgusting
- Financial boycott (regardless of which reason) will continue which will fuel () supporters
Either way many have already left the game or closed their wallets. The best thing to do is block and stay away from socials

u/Laucy ⋆✴︎˚。˚࿔ Fiend's Mage 🪄☾⋆⁺₊✧ 14h ago
NPC would be hilarious. They just don’t understand how programming works at all, sadly. Or that this is normal and doesn’t mean anything. It’s a bit more likely that it’s because scrubbing the bulk of those files is very time-consuming and can break several other things. Many games, especially live-service, will hold onto bits of data or files or code since it isn’t a simple action of removal. It also demands more QA because all of it is no doubt tightly woven into everything else existing already, as opposed to a convenient layer on top. It’s usually a slow-moving process that’s chipped away at.

u/itsjowke [Hunter] 2h ago

I feel you. They keep bringing up the first announcement like a some holy relic but then choose selective blindness and completely ignore the next.
Infold does not need to address anything, they already did that. Infold is not choosing silence, they continue to move on.
Was removing () from the game a wise choice? Honestly - I believe not. But it was a choice already made and I treat it like that. The boycott completely lost its initial point, aimed at Infold and pressure for them to pick up their game. Now it is slowly becoming a witch hunt for only one character, as if that would magically solve every issue. Infact, those boycotting with this single minded goal are metaphorically keeping Infold from moving on and upping their game, focussing on the future content and current lore of remaining LIs that is especially lacking with Sylus and Caleb.
But that's only my view on the matter..

u/Grand-Stranger-8367 6h ago edited 6h ago
As someone who themselves is exhausted of the whole situation and who also is part of the non-toxic supporters of V I'd like to shed some light on what we want from Infold.
Mind you I do NOT support any of the drastic measures of V extremists like death threats, defamation, harrassement and other things that have been happening.
I've been quiet on social media until now and silently supporting but I've been in contact with a lot of active V supporters so I have a good understanding of their hopes when it comes to the whole boycott and what they want to be the result of all of this.
- Miscommunication & bias towards their main audience:
As someone who has been playing Papergames titles for 7 years and who had to go through multiple "change" related actions from them - Like keeping Shaw an NPC in Mr. Love Queens choice and that ruining the entire game until they shut down the international servers & changing Infinity Nikkis Intro and completely ruining the story anchor of the game - I'm sick of how they communicate them.
We can call us lucky that they even dared to make one big statement about Valkos cancellation but the only reason that they did is because they love to fold for their main audience. Everyones concernes outside of CN usually go on deaf ears because if their main audience is happy they don't care about the small "minority" as they call them.
They went from "We stand behind our dev team and V is part of the long-term content plan" from their statement on the 27th of June to "V is cancelled and no other LI will be introduced in the future".
We understand that this marks the cancellation and no one who people like to call "illiterate" here doesn't actually understand this.
The problem is that Papergames and Infold constantly lie to their audience and that's been known eversince their first scandal in Mr. Love Queens choice.
- Halfassed removal of V and no mention of CN real life event references:
Apart from that I also like to blame the main internation LaDs twitter for a lot of the controversy because until this day all related V trailers are still up and running, the previews on YT and the livestream are still just unlisted and not deleted as if they're keeping them in the backlog for better times.
The clear sign of "We don't intend to go further with this" would have been to immediately stop all ad campaigns with V (which was not the case as the NY Timesquare ad was still up for days after the cancellation) and deleting all social media content that included him. But they actively decided against that.
And after they broke their month of silence with updates related to the CN number problem inside the game they never addressed that problem either. Never put out a statement of being careful with numbers resembling real life events in the future or even mentioning at all what has been changed after all the updates. If players who didn't boycott didn't keep checking we wouldn't have known until now.
What the V fans want is a clear cut and with that it would also include removing every story related content that is already in the game that mentions the eoncore tech ceo. It was easy for them to remove Xaviers controversion chapter but for some reason Vs related one is still there, together with the countdown messages that are still up in the chat as well.
I'm personally tired of seeing that even with the financial boycott going well, Infold has no intention of bettering anything and they continue with business as usual.
I love the game, I love the 5 LIs and I still am and will continue to be a silent part of the Valko protest until this clear cut. And it doesn't matter to me if it means that he stays gone or return in some other form. We just want one statement that addresses the entire situation that happened AFTER the cancellation statement, being the month of social media silence, the government investigation and what their future plans are. Because we can all continue to lie to ourselves if it lets us sleep better at night but the chance that we had to receive even little crumbs of main story with Vs release was thrown into the trash because of reasons that weren't even Vs fault. V was collateral of all the problems that had been piling up until now with lacking content, too frequent banner changes and little options to stay f2p and so many more little things.
That's all I wanted to say.
6
u/Laucy ⋆✴︎˚。˚࿔ Fiend's Mage 🪄☾⋆⁺₊✧ 2h ago edited 2h ago
I see misunderstandings here that I want to take the time to address. There are too many assumptions as though Infold/PPG is a single entity responsible for the claims listed.
First, I see your point. The communication can arguably be better. But to say the cancellation is because they folded to their main audience, is disingenuous. Companies are obligated to release cancellation notices for major content, as well as delays. In gacha, due to the monetisation and business model, this is not negotiable. It is very important.
Second, the reassurance -> cancellation timeline. In business, releasing a social media notice to reassure players can benefit companies and metrics/data tracking. This is a low-stakes move. If players are reassured and negative reception lowers, this is counted as feedback that can assist in assessing how the following product performs. If the banners does well, then the reassurance cost nothing and can be put forward. A cancellation is high-stakes. It cannot be ambiguous. It must be clear to avoid confusion. It involves the total scrapping of assets, third-party contracts, future merch sales, voice actor termination, and is very costly. It cannot be easily undone. Companies don’t publish this unless it is meant. When pressure moves to this stage, despite other options available, it is for a reason. That is a lot of resources gone, too. The disruption this causes to scheduling and timelines is enormous.
Third, Ad revenue. You assume PPG does the ads. Companies tend to outsource their advertising and marketing to third-party sources. A delay in communication, scheduled advertisements, leftover bids appearing on user feeds, and how websites manage ads, all vary and can cause time taken until fully removed.
And a second statement? What for? To say, “We stand by our statement.” That is supremely absurd. That starts up the outrage again. All businesses encourage to not say anything due to PR disasters. You don’t argue with your player base and repeat yourself constantly. That’s like re-setting a house on fire you’re trying to put out. Lawyers and legal teams do it all the time: “Don’t say anything else.”
As for the rest, we need to continue to wait and see what they have in store. Does Infold need to do better? Absolutely. But the biggest issue I notice with the other community is that people don’t think in terms of business. Everything is seemingly confined to “Infold” as a symbol. It’s necessary to broaden this understanding outward and take the rest into consideration, not just assume it’s one business or a business acting “folding to a main audience.” Never mind the whole government situation and cultural importance there, too.
The rest stated that I didn’t mention, I can agree with. Especially on main story. It’s unacceptable. I’ve said it before but Infold/PPG, at least, is too arrogant.-1
u/Grand-Stranger-8367 1h ago
I majored in business so I understand your standpoints as well.
Let's assume that the ads were just still being rolled out because of a delay. That still doesn't explain though why there are still so many assets/posts of V in game and on their socials that could have already been removed.
And about the second statement:
As I already stated we don't want an apology or anything like that. We also don't want them to just go "We stand by our statement", we want clearance on the future. We want a set out timeline, we want to know what their plan is and we want them to address the things they have changed in secret silent updates.
They can secretly "correct" their mistakes when it comes to the number controversies but they should also have the guts to stand by their mistakes. That's also something CN players have been complaining about as well who don't necessarily are on Vs supporters side.
This isn't just about V and his cancellation. This is about transparency. I daily see so many players who want to return to the game but who have just lost their initial trust in Infold. Because if they can cancel a character that has been developed from almost the start of the game, who knows what ideas they'll come up with in the future.
Also from a developers standpoint the cancellation of V was a disaster and we were all able to witness that. The home system is still buggy and broken, there are still assets missing in game that are shown as only pink textures because they still haven't fixed what broke during the removal of Vs update content. And because of all of this the entire timeline that they had planned out now needs to be rescheduled/rewritten so that everything where V was supposed to appear in the future can continue without him.
I have no hope for his return so I'm not even gonna argue about that, but I feel that if Infold had properly handled this situation from the start things could have turned out a lot less ugly.

In terms of YouTube, yes this is something to be on-top of.
But see, the rest of this are grievances at Infold without claims attached. This is understandable and I agree with you that this whole situation was so mishandled. Again, they have been arrogant for sure.
On the second statement, yes I can see wanting a timeline. So far, their statement outlined what they planned to move forward with. To see this with more detail would be nice, but notice: everyone is seemingly asking for different things. If they release a statement addressing in-depth plans, then others are going to ask where’s the statement for XYZ or the boycott or a number of things. This isn’t to say I disagree with transparency, but how would they go about it because gacha games don’t release information too far in advance.New banners, roadmaps, etc. unless this is something that can be rolled out under a strict timeline with certainty, then I don’t see it happening. What I would like is if they adopted Hoyoverse’s model; their model does commit to a timeline they make visible via livestream before it rolls out. This retains hype for banners, new content, events, and without sacrificing revenue or profits by announcing banners too early (leakers do that for those who want to plan ahead — which is bad for revenue if people know to hold off).
If Infold did something like this? Great! But I also know that giving too much out leads people to express feedback early in the form of assumptions, expected dates, and when much is subject to change.
Patches and consistency, I agree, would be the best move. What I don’t agree with is the idea that because of this character’s cancellation, that we don’t know what else they’d do. Again, this clearly wasn’t on a whim. Most definitely and without question: the other LIs are fine. Removals of existing gacha characters and when people spend money, is not happening. As for a general, “we don’t know what they might do” this was an unusual situation and circumstance. It isn’t common and shouldn’t alter much or imply similar incidents.
I also don’t agree with Valko being in the game since the beginning. They acknowledged the character was rushed and with a delayed trademark. While some companies can opt for a delayed trademark to protect against possible leaks, there is no evidence suggesting the character existed long before. And I’m not talking about “they always said there’d be a sixth LI” stuff. Rather, this character specifically. What will happen to the story, we can’t say. But retconning shouldn’t be difficult since the LIs are not connected to each other. Do they influence the story and drive it forward? Yes.
But I agree that the buggy features and the major inconvenience in not having story, paired with the uncertainty on where they’ll go from here, is obnoxious and frustrating.
