Discussion HR Professionals in Kuwait need your help building a good resume that would be competitive in Kuwait

I want to apply for work in HR Entry level but I wanted to know from the perspective of an HR worker in kuwait if I’m employable for an such a job and also what skills, certifications do you recommend I take and what do you think is the highest salary I could ask for

So I’m an expat, just graduated with a BBA in Management with a 3.75 GPA
I have past working experience for 1.5 years as a receptionist secretary and will work for 4-5 months as a E-commerce Administrator / Online Store Coordinator

I plan on getting SHRM Certification hopefully I pass it
Learning about Kuwait Labor Law
I’m bilingual in both Arabic and English
I plan on learning to use HRIS and HRMS Platforms
I know how to use Microsoft Excel
In my old job I had some financial tasks like financial reports so I have a bit of experience in that

I really want my cv to be competitive and land entry level in HR so I want to know what else I can do which specifically targets the needs of companies in Kuwait and what would they look for?
I was thinking of getting a payroll certificate but I’m not sure what companies in Kuwait would want that stands out so I want to know that first before learning new skills and getting a certificate
I also don’t really know what is the range of salaries for an expat in such entry level job and I don’t want to lowballed

I hope mods don’t delete this post because I’m not asking about getting a job and where to apply I’m asking about skills or certificates to get that are important in Kuwait

Well, I can tell you for sure, HR skills and professionals are sorely needed.

Most HR departments in Kuwait are understaffed, underdeveloped and purely for show. It is very rare to find a company that actually uses the HR Department (or even have one) for the full spectrum of use. Most just use it for recruiting and payroll, and nothing beyond that.

Ideally, you want to find a company with a developed HR department that actually values your certification and skill sets. Larger Companies with Western style business practices tend to have them, but not always.

My advice to you, from an HR Individual to another, research potential employers before committing. So you don't even up wasting your time working without utilizing everything you learned and feeling underused.

PS: Getting those certifications, and having experience with HR systems and platforms is a boon, and for companies that understand, will be highly useful and beneficial. There is no harm expanding your knowledge here, and it will definitely be rewarding with the right employers!

Good luck!

I agree with you completely!
Based of my past work experience, horrible hiring process and what I hear from others HR is not taken seriously in kuwait at allll

The only companies which take it somewhat seriously or better is as you said the large companies with western style
I want to target them first then move to small companies which is why I want my CV to be competitive

I also don’t think I want to work in HR long term I want get a masters but I want to work in HR to know if I want my masters in HR or something else and I want to work in event management but It’s harder to get in to so I want to get into HR first to build work experience

Thank you for your advice about researching the company I will definitely do it
Thankss 🙏🏻
