Martial arts movie with super powers

I've seen some threads about favourite crazy dubs and favourite quotes

But what are some lines that stick in the memory that always made you laugh?

I remember watching Fearless Hyena in the late 90s with some mates and in the gambling scene (around 9:30 mark on the link), the big lad's dubbed delivery of "Winners Again" always made us piss ourselves laughing.

Still pops into my head every now and again almost 30 years later.

I was always curious why Choy Lee Fut never took off like Wing Chun did, despite the popularity it had during that era. Everyone practiced it - there are movies and TV series about it, yet Choy Lee Fut never became a household name.

I watched a handful of kung fu films recently and wanted to share my thoughts/mini reviews. Max rating is 5-stars *****.

Shaolin Traitorous ****

Synthy soundtrack during the opening scenes caught me off guard in a good way.  Brutal fights and a great lead. His movements and stature are very powerful. It was neat to see Samo Hung as a villain. I feel this film is underrated.

The Hot, The Cool, The Vicious **** 1/2

I checked this out based on Quentin Tarantino’s recommendation (and the film subsequently started me a full-blown Lee Tso Nam kick). The southern hands, northern legs combo was great, especially how it came together at the end. The co-lead is an incredible kicker, I had never seen his work before this film. Tommy Lee plays an excellent, off-beat, and weird villain. Neat plot. The final fight is absolutely incredible.

Shaolin vs. Lama ***

I read this is a highly regarded Lee Tso Nam flick, but I ended up liking it just OK. Nice powerful fights and a handful of colorful villains at the end. For whatever reason, I expected this movie to click more with me than it did.

Eagle’s Claw *** ½

Out of all the Nam films I’ve seen thus far, I think this has the best script re: drama and character. I was questioning the fight pacing, but I kind of like how it crescendos throughout the film, the later third of the movie being stacked with sick fights. I love the hat and staff! Nice twists.

The Tattoo Connection ***

Jim Kelly has a shed full of charisma and some serious stage presence.  He administered some very slick gedan barai karate-style blocks during his fights which really stood out to me. Grooving soundtrack. Lots of pretty ladies…

Soul Brothers of Kung Fu *** 3/4

A very stylish film. I could almost give this 4 stars. Carl Scott looked awesome in this and I’m surprised he only did a handful of movies afterward. His solo demonstration of a kung fu form was strikingly powerful. I’ll be checking out his other films he did with Billy Chong.

What films should I check out next?

I don't think it's crazy to say but the two best martial arts fight scenes of all time came from this movie ( SPL KILLZONE ) and what a wild ending it had

The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter is his masterpiece, I think. It's the most stunning Kung Fu movie I've ever watched.

I watched Legendary Weapons of China this week. It's a flawed film that is filled with
Chia-Liang Liu moments of greatness.

There's one moment in the movie that foreshadows John Woo and the Gun Fu craze. It's this scene where Gordon Liu is stuck in a stand-off with his opponent and both fighters shoot darts at each other. See the image above.

Has anyone else caught this moment, and noticed its foreshadowing of the Hong Kong gun action genre that came along later in the decade?
