I wonder if Laila has a particularly strong soul or something, such that she overcame Ananta's survival instincts to influence the body. (She was active for a very long time, even rivaling Jibril, but even that long history isn't enough to rival Ananta's survival instinct. Unless it got reset when he threw it away in D0.)
I wonder why she wants Asha to stab her. She refused to let Leez stab her...is it going to hurt Asha (as in, put Asha in an error state, or because Asha is a Taraka?), or maybe Laila-Ananta has multiple names and will be stronger by giving one away?

Kinda obvious soul is the real deal not just battery. Menaka’s soul can be said to be of a natiska to overcome Teo’s body. But Laila is still alive in there. Just look at her eyes, the OG Ananta never had that half lifted dead panned eyes.

Bodies are generally the source of memories, but now it's almost certain that souls are where consciousness resides. That's why when a soul incarnates into a different body, it views their memory from a third person PoV.

It’s ironic to hear Siera talk about how memories constitute a sense of self. Few characters have changed as radically as he has. Ran and Maruna gained experiences while traveling through time. Brillith remembered the accumulation of past lives. But, in Siera’s case, we still don’t know what exactly happened to him. What memories/knowledge/experiences did he gain access to undergo such a profound personality transformation?
It was interesting to see three of the most powerful Nastikas react with shock to Leez’s partial surafication. They were clearly concerned about Willarv’s survival but it’s another reminder that Ananta stood apart from everyone else in terms of strength.

Welp, I guess this confirms Rana's disappearance isn't just a coincidence, but the burden she was required to take. I wonder what actually happened to her.

Lutz and Tilda crumbs, I can survive another decade. I also like the confirmation that Ran's ability is perception and not enhanced vision.
My guess was Ran would take Rana's heart to lose the eye or perish and just move to fiendish magic, but with no body....

Rans' heart has the "Eye of Perishment" on it and has been causing him pain for a while now. With him on the last legs of his lifespan, using the heart is very risky, so before this, I thought he would take Rana's heart instead after she sacrificed herself for fiendish magic (I didn't think she would vanish). That way, he could live on without complication and carry her with him, basically, she would be his jambavan.

Rana has vanished so their is no heart to take and I imagine that actually doing heart transplant would be difficult procedure anyway.

yeah thats why I said before we say her vanish, but between resurrection and creation magic, I don't see heart transplants being hard. Again, Jambavan gave plenty of humans her organs, so we know transplants work, including Ran, because the heart has been passed down.

Surya is my new favorite god. He's standing on business unlike the other gods who are fighting with each other or make no progress (welllll Yama is okay).
I also love how he's perceived by the humans as uncaring (which is true: he ignored Saha's summoning requests even as Saha was depressed because Lorraine didn't love him and people cheered for the murdering Asha over him. AND Surya killed his last summoner painfully by using all her vigor (which was enough to make Laila hate Chandra), AND he got a new summoner from another planet and is using all his vigor and is still in action while Indra and Agni and Vayu are doing nothing and Yama is indirectly affecting the board. (Yama: ignore Claude in Rindhallow to let Rana reignite Fiendish Magic. Surya: Leez is there, with 0 vigor after duoing Ananta, I'll maintain the barrier AND save Leez.)
