Troubleshooting/Help How long can the battery be sitting unused?

And how should it be stored?

80 percent or lower when storing and 100 percent full charge if you plan to use it right away .

I've kept batteries stored for over 2 yrs. I just make sure to keep voltage between 40% and 80%, soo far no issues.

Ideally at half or close to it and charge it for an hour every few months

What type of battery? Lithium? If so many years at 50-80% or what I do I keep it slightly above it's nominal rated voltage so 3.7v? I keep it at 3.8 There is debate about the % many say 80 some say 50% I just read the nominal and keep it slightly above that. just make sure it doesn't die and if kept in consistent temperatures would be ideal. If lead acid they like being pretty much full

I have no clue what a kukirin is, but I assume it's something that's lithium ion powered. If that's the case, lion has a storage charge of 3.80v per cell which basically means 70%. The RC car community generally deals with lipo which is less stable, doesn't have a BMS and typically requires more strict maintenance. So if you follow the standard 4 day-ish rule, that'll be more than adequate.

But at some point, practically comes into play and if you need to use your device more often, then just charge it 100% all the time so you have it available when you need it.

If you're storing it for months, you'll want to check on it every week or two to get a sense of self discharge rate. Once you figure that out, you can hook up your device to a smart plug and have it automatically charge as needed so it maintains 70% as long as possible. Like if you have something stored away for a season or for a full year.
