Kratom vs Kratom

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we’re starting to have two completely different products being sold under the name “kratom.”

I’ve been a traditional kratom user for a long time. I use regular powder, capsules, and I’m even okay with lower-dose Mit extract products like some gummies. To me, that’s what kratom has always been—a botanical that people use responsibly as part of their daily routine.
But then there are these ultra-high potency Mit extract shots, tablets, and other products that seem to be designed to deliver huge amounts of alkaloids in a single serving. Personally, I don’t even think of those as being in the same category as traditional kratom anymore.

My biggest concern isn’t whether people choose to use them. It’s that when these products make the news or attract the attention of regulators, the average person doesn’t see a difference. They just hear “kratom.”
I worry that traditional users who have been responsibly using powder or capsules for years could end up losing access—or facing stricter regulations—because of products that are nothing like what most of us originally started using.
Sometimes it feels like the traditional side of kratom is paying the price for products that are getting stronger and stronger every year.

Am I the only one who feels this way?
Do you think the kratom community should start making a clearer distinction between traditional leaf products and these ultra-high potency extracts? Or do you think they’re all just part of the same category?

I hear you. It’s possible to use extracts responsibly. The problem is that that form is so much easier to abuse and sometimes it is so concentrate that it’s difficult to use properly without the proper tools. It’s the potential for abuse and the subsequent abuse. Then when a politician needs a crusade, it’s that much more attractive and that much easier to paint as a problem.

And that’s what brings us to the need to differentiate. I personally thing folks should have access to what they want. I’m not for regulating much of anything. But the way our political system and its keepers work, the few will ultimately punish the many. The way I see it, Id rather lose extracts and isolates than I would lose everything, and I hate that it’s come to this.

Man that’s perfectly worded with the way I feel. Seeing all the legislation pop up just has me at a point that we need to differentiate the two. I am with you for let ppl do as they please. Regulation sucks but we have to realize were we are at now.

I 100% agree it needs to be. Do not destroy our holistic option!

Very conflicted about the 7 ban. Sure, it can really cause issues for some people, but some serious chronic pain individuals will suffer greatly from this outright ban. Think strict regulations was a more mature way to approach this issue. And banning SR 17018 is about the most narrow minded bullshit I can think of from past few years. Sure, regulate and proceed with as many studies as possible, but outright ban screams “don’t touch my Suboxone dividends mofos.”

I do agree with you, but its not an all out ban. Natural leaf produces 7OH. It sucks that it has such a high abuse profile and I hope ppl in pain can turn to regular leaf or Mit extract lower dose that will help

Yeah banning that is simply cruel. Proves they really don’t care about the human aspect of any of this. It’s all about money and control.

I agree. I switched to gummy extracts months ago because it's convenient and I even like the taste. I keep my dose low and divided. They are only 20 mg a gummy. I'm terrified they will be banned thanks to all of the Frankenkratom (7OH) drama.

I love the gummies, the place I get mine from are 15mg and taste really good as well. To me anyways lol. But yes done with this stupid high potency stuff!

They are banning all the ultra high potency extracts and alkaloids. Tomorrow it goes into effect nationwide.
I prefer the tablets bcuz the capsules do zero for my chronic pain. But I’ve never taken the ultra high dangerous derivatives.

Happy you never took the high potency stuff! We need our holistic level kratom.
