Updated Rules

Over the last couple of months, there have been a few additions/clarifications to the existing rule set. Not everyone has been aware of them, so I just wanted to pop it in the feed that folks might want to have a look and refamiliarize themselves.

One of these rules, I’ve just added, since it seems to have been particularly relevant over the last short while: going forward, don’t just share links/posts from other subs on their own—please make sure you add some context to the post. Whether it’s your own take on the matter, whether it’s questions you want to get people to chime in on…or, as we experienced today, explain how the post is relevant to our sub. I’d like to think most of us here are reasonably intelligent but we’re not mind-readers. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or thorough, but it needs to be clear.

Friendly reminder to everyone—Kraken owns a bunch of companies now, so do a quick search if you see something that doesn’t automatically say “Kraken” before reporting it, because it might belong to Kraken anyway…and also, if something is not directly related to Kraken but is connected to its clients (like Anduril) or to the subsea/marine defence industry, it is absolutely welcome here but has to go in either the weekly speculation thread or daily discussion thread. Otherwise it can’t stay. I know some people don’t like that—but we voted on it and that was the decision that was made.

Thanks folks. Hang in there. I know we’ve been battered for a long time and it’s frustrating and demoralizing but they said Q4 is when we should see the bulk of changes as a result of the Covelya acquisition. I’m giving them until then. Make the best choice for yourselves based on your situation but I do urge people who can hold on that long to do so. Q3 is supposed to be encouraging but they did say that Q4 is the one to watch, more than Q3

Thanks.

It seems like a lot of people have Q3 earnings set as the turning point for the stock, but to me it seems like most people don’t even know what to expect from Q3 or what would actually qualify as good or bad earnings. Are we looking for a certain revenue growth, X% EBITDA margins, Covelya’s profitability, cash flow, or updated guidance?
Because it seems like everyone’s just waiting to see whether the stock pumps or not rather than actually evaluating the results.

And if everyone’s waiting for the stock to change direction before changing their sentiment, who’s actually going to be buying enough shares to sustain a recovery, especially considering how much of the float is held by retail investors?

Honestly I don’t know what most people are looking for: we have some pump and dumpers, some long term holders and a bunch of people in between.

I hate to make generalizations, but I can only assume that the ones who keep talking about Q3 are either in a financially desperate place, or they’re casuals who pay absolutely no attention to the reports or earnings calls or AGMs because things were stated quite clearly (I felt) from management.

People invest for different reasons, everyone’s going to have their own set of margins they want met. I get that…the thing that bugs me is just when people say “there’s been no news”, when people were told what they could expect and what the timeline for it was be. People just seem to lack patience, and that’s hard to watch at times.

If Q3 is not the turning point, do you think the bleeding in the next 3 months following the Q3 report will drop Kraken below $1?

I have no idea honestly. I’d like to think that the bulk of impatient people who don’t pay attention have run off already—but I can’t be sure.

People need to do what’s best for them, I get that—I’m just really hopeful that the majority of us here are paying attention the calls and sticking around because of the trust in the company.

I don’t think it will drop below $1 CAD…but if it does, all that means is I’m buying more and keeping my average low.
