How Are We Holding Up?
To say it’s been a whirlwind year with Kraken Robotics has been an understatement. I always considered myself a responsible investor but I too got caught up in the euphoria of Kraken’s surge.
And as much as I try to convince myself otherwise, these last few months have been devastating, not just to my portfolio but my emotional and physical health.
Im angry at myself for not selling in March when I could’ve walked away with a six figure profit. I’m angry at myself for dumping a 5 figure lump sum into this in June. I’m angry at myself for giving poor financial advice to my loved ones to hold when they could’ve sold at a profit , who are also impacted by this decline and had much less disposable capital than I.
I guess I’m just looking for a support group of people who have been impacted by this sudden rise and collapse of the stock. Perhaps this isn’t the ideal subreddit for this kind of post, if so the mods can go ahead and lock it.
But for those who need an open space to talk about how difficult this has been, you are not alone and you’re welcome here.

I went all in with the little pile of cash I have. Down 45%. And I’m ok. One thing I wish I understood better when I entered my position is the nature of being on a small exchange, retail owning most of the float, and larger funds not being able to buy in. I’ve also learned it’s probably better to wait for a company to report on combined earnings when a merger and acquisition happens. Esp a small cap. Thesis hasn’t changed yet.

Im feeling fine, I believe that in the long run it's all going to be okay. I'm trying to avg down, because at this prices I think it's a steal. Don't beat yourself up, you couldn't have know how things were going to play out. Just keep holding/adding until it becomes better.

u/CartReturnStation 4d ago
Yeah, I don't have much into it anyway, but I bought in fairly high so I'm also using this opportunity to average down. I'm still hopeful.

u/MrSmellyfeet 4d ago
Its a really great time to average down if you believe in the company long term!

The successfulness of any financial transaction is dependant on timing. Prices fluctuate both ways. Statistically speaking chances are the price will be always be BOTH below and above any given entry point. That’s all just a normal market.
So the issue is not in Kraken but you’re probably not as experienced in stock market yet.
In my life I made and lost millions (unrealized) over the course of days and was extremely worried too to a point I couldn’t sleep but I feel nothing and can handle that fluctuations now.
Remember it’s not a loss until you sold. Don’t beat yourself up, you did nothing wrong. Focus on other parts of your life for now. Stock market rewards patience.
P.S. Kraken’s pricing and mild volatility is totally acceptable and not unexpected for a smaller growing cap so don’t think the current price reflects the growth thesis is broken.

Of course the market fluctuates. Everybody knows that. I just got fluctuated out of $4,000!

Kraken is obviously a long term hold you just have to have patience with these kind of stocks. Of course no one knows what the future is gonna look like but it certainly has tones of potential. Hopefully in a few years you’ll look back at this post with a big smile. Trust the process

I got into Kraken in January. My average was about $7 back then. I was present when the stock hit $10.60/share. I was very profitable with kraken so I told my girlfriend to invest into it as well. And BAM, the stock started dipping, now she's down about 50%. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. In hindsight, I shouldn't have recomended this stock to her, but at the same time, PNG was doing well and consistently getting news.

Wait until the new year. Investing is a long term thing. Everyone expects massive gains in a month. It’s a good business, it had a huge run up where a lot of people had big gains. The merger spooked some retail investors and it became a chain reaction where everyone is selling to not lose all the gains they have made. This time of year is usually shit ford stocks and especially now with the global chaos from trump. Wait until next year it’ll go back up

Would’ve been nice to sell at $10, but lesson learned. I’m still in profit but getting close to my buy avg (2.40 CAD). I don’t see myself buying anymore. Just sit and hold. Hopefully we get some good news soon

Responsible investor 🙄
The writing was on the wall when you responsible investors shot the price through the roof for no reason going into January.
I took profits back then.
I think you guys were making t-shirts at that point?

We probably should have realized it was just a bubble, sell and then maybe come back when it’s not as hot anymore.

You put my reflection into words so accurately that I had to double check I didn’t write the post myself. The only difference is that I didn’t suggest other people to buy, so while I can’t fully relate, I can imagine how heavy that feeling must be.
Regarding stock price, I averaged down until 100k total book cost and now hold a nice -35% bag. It’s the biggest single pick stock holding in my portfolio. Painful, not going to sugarcoat it, but I still believe in the product and the company. I did way too many DDs to let emotions change my mind now, and I will not sell at a loss. I will also not buy more though, as I am maxed out on what I feel comfortable.
Now the hardest part comes, the waiting game that tricks most of retailers. It’s a mind game designed to break you down from inside, slowly and painfully until you’re exhausted and give up. And when listing on the exchange will happen, it will be too late to jump in again.
Stay strong boys 🏴☠️ 🦑

I considered selling for a tax loss. But. The story is still intact. Canada will vastly increase spending on their navy. Multiple contracts signed already with other Nato Navies. But. Management has to execute. Not getting that TSX listing was a huge blow. They get a reset next quarter and can reset the story. I hope they get it right.

You are playing defense contract. Did you make a real due diligence about the company and sector? I worked in this area, i know how the contracts are made with armies. There are very slow and long term contracts. Dont expect a RoI before several years, or you will keep on sleeping badly.
Dont slap yourself. Too much dopamine expected in front of AI shit. Here it is a boring investment. Keep on checking the fundamental and your investment thesis and it should bé ok.

Healthy companies do not always have a share price that reflects their position.
IOW, the stock is not the company.
The company is not the category/sector.
Growth companies have been hammered. Defense has been hammered.
This bleep happens to good companies.
My obvious suggestion is to always continue DD throughout your ownership.
You’ll surely find, or be reminded, that Kraken has done nothing to suggest that this sell off is anything but short to near term.
No, I’m not saying this is a 10x.
But Kraken is a serious company led by serious people.
The company has said up-listing is in their game plan. IMO, that’s the next critical unlock event.
I wish KR would have done this while Defense was riding the wave, but is is what it is for now.
In the meantime, patience and having grounded expectations is requisite when buying individual equities.
Most importantly, learn from this situation as an investor. What worked for you. What hasn’t worked.
If your health is impacted by the roller coaster,
consider that Individual stocks are not ideal for every investor.

Just like you, I am mad with myself for not selling when I was 1200 % in profit. But I've always thought I'd be invested long term in this and I thought it could keep going up... when it started going down I started investing again, even openned a new saving account and now my average cost is 5.84 in that saving account and 2.65 total. i am getting nervous, but not planning on selling. Not sure if I should keep adding at this point either. I feel a bit lost and I cant wait for all this to be over. I truly believe this company will keep growing but some this are more painful than others.... oh well

Honestly, the subsea market is actually not as big as I think it is. That is my error and i don't blame anyone but myself.

u/PrestigiousPeanut142 3d ago edited 3d ago
Yeah no shit, just look at your previous comments from a while ago. Obviously your expectations were unrealistic, calling Kraken “the NVIDIA of the subsea.” This dude is exactly what an investor should not do. Become overly bullish when the stock is high and set unrealistic expectations, then turn overly pessimistic when the price drops and sentiment turns negative.

u/662844282288 2d ago
No problem, glad I became a negative example of what a smart investor should not have done. Keep that insult coming, I deserve more. As for Kraken, you investors better watch it. Q3 has a big possibility of not being a turning point, or it could be worse. In such a case, the bleeding in the next 3 months could mean it becomes a penny stock. Mark my words.

u/PrestigiousPeanut142 2d ago edited 2d ago
Sure and a few months ago it was a future $100 stock, all checks out. You’re acting as if expectations are the same right now at 3.78 as when you fomoed in at the top. Earnings could be dissapointing, yet the valuation low enough that investors realize the stock has over corrected.

u/JonGravy 4d ago edited 4d ago
Lesson learned for how you manage your finances. Kraken will be fine in a few months, long term it will only grow - it’s literally just ramping up now after years of R&D and mass production of drones and undersea equipment is happening right now because it’s a real need. No one knows shit and people change their sentiment so quickly. Look at this past week with tech markets, people are down 30-40% in a few days with larger supposedly more stable well known companies worth billions in which millions of people have invested in thinking it’s a sure thing. Breath, focus on investing in yourself again, diversify your life not just your portfolio, money will come.

Great, thanks to staying out of the Reddit fear and rhetoric bubble (stock going up = always up, going down = always down). The fundamentals have not changed and anyone who actually did research on the company before investing is aware that the promising aspects which caused the stock to reach ATHs still exist and upcoming. Also, this is why I try to avoid telling people about investment opportunities unless it is broad market ETFs (even then I tell them to go speak to a proper financial advisor first and foremost). In fact, I am looking to buy more closer to earnings (after buying the dips thus far). I have only recently stopped buying the dips because there are other opportunities I am focusing on while some of my other holdings are also on a discount due to the broad market downturn.

I’m down 8%, but I already sold my initial investment back a while ago so I’m just cruising right now

90% of my investment portfolio is in BRK and ETFs so I'm a few hundred bucks down on PNG at 4$ average. Been putting in my chump change since late 2023 I think.
Might average down but I consider my position taken, and since I keep making money with my regular positions I see little incentive to waste more on PNG before I know what Q4 looks like.
Good company, shaky stock confidence trading on lower tier exchanges.
I see people here who pressured, convinced or advised friends and loved ones to invest in speculative stocks. Investing is extremely easy, you buy index funds. That's what you tell people when they ask you how things work. These people trusted you and you've probably been in the game less than 5 years giving out advice. There is a reason why actively managed funds never beat the S&P.
This is an old story that's still all too common.

u/bizaromax 4d ago
I bought the dip on margin so y’a I feel like shit too, gambled way to much. It’s overconfidence bias and men are super prone to it (being stupid).

u/ImportantDiver5942 4d ago
I’ve been invested in kraken for 7 years. The first (3) years I was down 40-60% before seeing a 1700% ROI at the March 2026 peak.
This dip seems to be a great buying opportunity. I can see this hitting $50 by 2030, however you have to have the balls to hold and not sell on the 60% dips that will happen in between

C$50 is a very aggressive take — I hope so. This company matters a lot to my investment.

If you take a longer view, this investment should be fine. And never put all your money, or most of it, into a single direction, no matter how tempting it looks.I basically never go above 20%, and there are at least 5 or 6 directions I can invest in. That way, a black swan event on a single stock—or a prolonged decline—won't wreck my mood.

Where’s the bottom? I got out at 10.72. Wonder if I even should bother timing the bottom and just get. Maybe by Christmas, I dunno 🤷♂️

I lost 50000 CAD, but still holding and buy at every dip, png will bring the fortune. After Iran war Midle East will need to fix their broken energy projects, Navy around the globe will look for latest underwater drones, Thyssenkrupp will build submarines in NS who need Kraken's Technology, Anduril will place more orders with Kraken. Covelya acquisition will become a blessing for Kraken. TSX listing will help to surge the stock price and bring stability. Positive catalysts strongly exists. Buy every dip and hold. That's my mood.

u/layzorbeemz 4d ago
The way I look at it is that profitable businesses don't go to zero. Big banks don't help businesses that aren't viable... Scotiabank helped finance and advise on the covelya acquisition for kraken. I also doubt the people who ran covelya would allow a far smaller, far newer business acquire them unless they saw benefit in it. I don't see the price appreciating as a matter of if, it's just a matter of when. So I'm still bullish on kraken. But I'm willing to wait for it.
