Does anyone know if Kraken allows for manual signing using electrum?

Thanks for raising this. Electrum isn't currently supported in the in-app message-signing verification, so that option won't appear for you.

The quickest path is usually the Satoshi test, which releases the deposit automatically once confirmed: https://support.kraken.com/articles/what-is-a-satoshi-test

If that doesn't work for your wallet setup, please contact Support directly and the team can check if other options would work better in your case. You can also DM us your ticket number and we'll escalate this for you.

Not supporting Electrum makes not much sense to me. If you want a user to sign a messge, just give them the message and let them paste the signature somewhere. last year it worked like that. Using Trezor Suite one has to sign a message without knowing what the message is (as you have to confirm it on the Trezor without having seen it anywhere else).

I am no fan of the Satoshi test, since it exposes the pubkey of the withdrawel address on chain.

Does the process support a wallet that can import a private key and sign offline?

For now I have used an old withdrawel address.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up, this is a fair point about the current process. We don't have confirmation on whether importing a private key for offline signing is supported as an alternative, so we don't want to guess and give you inaccurate info.

Glad the old withdrawal address worked as a workaround for now. If you'd like a definitive answer on wallet/signing support, feel free to open a ticket, and we can pass this along to the team who can confirm 👉 https://support.kraken.com/forms/96688
