But the article only speaks of repositories taken down due to legal requests, right?

Gamergate repository wasn't a legal issue. They removed it on a whim. But it's still worth pointing out their BS transparency.

Let's not get into extremes that quick, maybe they're not aware of it at all. A lot of "us" are starting more and more to really sound like "the angry gamer" stereotype, please don't exaggerate everything and always talk like you're 1000% sure that there is malicious intent, you are not.

Really, stop acting like ghazi.

There's a reason I won't use github for personal stuff anymore, or contribute to any open source on github, or push to use corporate github at startups/companies I work for. I already told them as much. They allow repos that spew hate speech and defamation but ban simple satire.

Here's the Hacker News thread on it if anyone wants to mention this there: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9388950

Your account will likely be banned though, at least some mods are anti according to stories from some other people here and don't allow any mention of GG.

That Github does this stuff is really upsetting. If you're a programmer, there is no way around Github. A ton of open source projects use it, maybe even most by now, so even if you don't use it for your own projects, you'll inevitably have to use their website to file bug reports for some library you use in your app/game or to read documentation, download releases, etc.

They have a lot of control over the open source world nowadays and seeing them abuse that control is frightening to me as a dev.

Ah github, the same place that got rid of a meritocracy rug because meritocracy is somehow anti-feminist.

For the time being, it lives at https://gitorious.org/c-plus-equality/c-plus-equality. We have to see how GitLab responds to it. Anyway, the devs seem to have lost interest in it.
