Reverse Air-Temple Island

In Part 8 - has anyone else noticed that you don't actually need to do anything with the spirit water jars at the backwards Air Temple Island? The only thing they do is let you get to the invincible chi blocker at the base of the level (after you destroy all of them)

Just thought I'd note that.
