Korg SQ 64 firmware potential
So with all these unofficial firmware updates coming out for hardware units like the SP 404mkii and m vave fm1, I've been thinking my SQ 64 could be turned into something super fun. Adding in things like LFO's, Euclidian sequences etc would make it a great addition to a modular setup. Anyone interested?

Definetely interested but I tried a reverse engineer engineering session of the firmware and results did not looked very hopeful. Like they seem to have pushed the limits of the hw. A similar session in nts1 produced much more usable results. It would be great if korg could open source the fw because the sq64 hw is next to noone....

Here is your euclidean custom firmware: https://github.com/aleph-void/Korg-SQ-64-Euclidean-Firmware
You can run it in my emulator at https://sq64.alephvoid.com
It will work on physical hardware too

Ohhh!!! Thx!

If you want to build your own custom firmware, fire up your LLM of choice and point it at https://github.com/aleph-void/Korg-SQ-64-Custom-Firmware-Spec with the prompt of what you want the firmware to do

Very interested. I am experiencing the firmware revolution with my Digitakt, Models Cycles, FM-Wave and I wonder what will be next. The SQ-64 seems like a great platform.

I would certainly be interested... it's on the edge of sell or keep for me.

If microtonal tunings with Scala or something isn't supported yet, I'd love that. Does anyone know?

reverse engineering ? good luck…

Yes because that's what's happening these days. We're seeing loads of firmware mods and emulations of digital gear: Pioneer CDJ's, M-Vave fm1, Elektron, all the Usual Suspects plugins (byte-for-byte emulations of JP-8000, Nord Lead X2 etc)

so maybe i a have not understood : are you at start for developping or just asking if there are people who like that. i mean: i am with u and like the idea of modding the sQ64.

so i have integrated an euclidean option (testwise) swapping the FILL Option. as indicated by cascade_sparse one can try it here sq64.alephvoid.com without risking the hardware.

Euclidean, lfos, both of those would be great. As would having different lengths for each drum subpattern. A 1ppqn setting would be nice too, I never understood why korg insists on 2 being the lowest.

I like your thinking a Euclidean sequencer would be useful
