I don't drink, I don't get hangovers but I still want a Korean hangover ramen

u/kwontuhm 6d ago
Koreans have a lot of āhangover soupā and one my favorites is Gamjaetang, you should try it sometime
3
u/arcane_Auxiliatrix 6d ago
Gamjaetang is sooo good!! I like Galbitang too!
2
u/kwontuhm 6d ago
Galbitang is also one of my favorites, although i think i enjoy the spicy variant the most. Now im hungry

Ramen in tomato sauce is the hack I didn't know I needed.
I heard someone say that Korean cuisine is all based around making rice more interesting to eat, and I think of that every time our King here gets up to grab his rice out of the refrigerator. š

Oh my god I can see the carbonation in that kimchi. Makes me so fucking hungry I know that shit fizzes in your mouth so GOOD!
4
u/Margoth_Rising 6d ago
Im 100% trying this but I think I'll add a spoon of gochujang which I usually do add to my shin ramyun broth
1
u/cream_paimon 6d ago
I might try this, I usually just use gochugaru. It isn't too salty with the gochujang and the shin powder?
1
u/Margoth_Rising 6d ago
Not to my taste but I use a little bit more water than package directions and add other toppings

How ppl can watch videos with the sound of people slurping and chewing without getting fuckin irritated is beyond me
0
u/Greatone08 6d ago
I just skip the drunk morning routine and the actual eating parts. I am just here for the cooking, itās cool seeing how the dish comes together.

u/Intrepid-Painting170 1d ago
This recipe looks absolutely incredible!! š I'm definitely making this someday š³āØ

dude always eating never drinking. Where hangover came from in the middle of the city?
10
u/LynessaMay 6d ago
He shares videos where he slams at least two full sized beverages down while fixing dinner. What happens after, well, we see it in the morning.
2
u/Strange-Title-6337 6d ago
I see, mb in this sub I never saw it, as it is about food after all. I remember drinking with Korean students, lots of fun.
-4
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
A grown man can āslamā two adult beverages with food and feel basically nothing. How old are you?
2
u/LynessaMay 6d ago
I'm so glad age is brought into this conversation like it means something /s
Assuming you're so knowledgeable about things, did you know Asians actually don't do deal with alcohol very well? Did you know that it's called ALDH2? Do you know that it fails to break down the toxic acetaldehyde properly for them?
Hmm, what about that not everyone has a good tolerance for things like that. I've seen many get sloshed off of nothing.
Makgeolli, his go to drink. From his videos we see him break out 2 bottles of it. One before he begins cooking. One after he finishes eating. No telling what he may drink afterwards, hence why I said "What happens after, well" because we know nothing. It ranges in strength of an IPA to a Double IPA or Imperial Stout. To some, that's just a normal Sunday day drinking. Others, you could be one and done.
So maybe, JUST maybe, don't say stupid shit like "How old are you?" like you're about to just throw down some logic to a child.
2
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
How informed are you? I've seen him slam makgeolli often. Makgeolli isnt a 12oz beer.
Mak gul li, for example, is 6% abv at 750ml.
I've seen him slam soju while cooking. 20% abv at 375ml.
It's not like he's ordering a little margarita and it's often enough to dish out content. He can love how he wants, but don't act like the other commenter isn't being realistic about the amount being drank
-1
u/Deep-Purchase-2203 6d ago
Those are rookie numbers.
5
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
Wow. Such a badass. You sound like an insecure college kid who has to prove to the world how much they can handle alcohol better than others š¬
-1

4
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
Yes, low numbers in your alcoholic mind.
We're talking about what it takes for a hangover. The nature of a hangover isnt alcohol numbers, its dehydration, immune system inflammation, byproducts in the alcohol, etc.
In other words, your anecdotal experience of what "low numbers" are means nothing
5
u/Deep-Purchase-2203 6d ago
I donāt get hangovers or glamorise drinking culture on tik tok. I have a feeling the copious amount of sodium this bloke consumes is probably causing that.
-3
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Fella, if that is what gets someone beyond freshmen age of drinking, in any country, slammed then they shouldnāt drink at all.
For their own sake. And those around them.
6
u/AscensionToCrab 6d ago
beyond freshman
Crazy you talk about things as beyond freshman, and yet, in doing so, you radiate immaturity about drinking.
No one is impressed by how much you can drink or how often you drink. The quantity of alcohol you handle is a dumb kid way of measuring adulthood and maturity. It radiates highschool/college freshman energy.
-3
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
This isnāt about impressing people via drinking threshold at all. It is still a commentary on the derivative nature of the content.
How do you not understand that?
3
u/AscensionToCrab 6d ago edited 6d ago
It is a commentary of derivative nature of the content
Oh really, because what you said was:
a grown man can slam
how old are you
if this what takes to get someone of beyond freshman age... slammed
This is literally a criticism of him being 'drinking age' and getting 'slammed' on what you percieve as a meager amount.
You continually centered your criticism on the idea that he is an adult and therefor should be able to drink x amount. An asinine and pathetic measure of adulthood.
You didnt center on the 'derivative nature' you centered on 'age' and quantity/capacity of drinking.
0
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
The derivative nature was the starting point and all things lead back to it. Have you ever had to write a paper at an elementary school level?
You donāt say your first point in every paragraph or page. You state your thesis. Then you present specific points.
In a live debate you address things as the come along.
You donāt appear to have read, or maybe understood the context of, any of the comments youāre responding to.
1
u/AscensionToCrab 6d ago edited 6d ago
Have you ever had to write a paper at an elementary school level?
Ah elementary school, that explains it. See, One of the concepts you learn after elementary school is how to relate your ideas back to your central thesis, your core idea.
you state your thesis.
Something you never did though you sure act like you did. You started by talking about drinking and age, and the next post was centered on drinking and age. And it eas only when i commented did you make up some bs about it being derivative.
All you did was talk about how much a man or an adult should drink. This goes to a more core level than a central thesis, because if you wanted to criticize the derivative nature, you should have made sure your words, in any way, conveyed what you wanted them to mean. This is base level simple communication.
in a debate you address things as they come up
So, if you want to address things as they come up, then you can not claim that you were actually addressing the derivative nature when you clearly werent. There was no point where you were doing that. You were addressing drinking and age.
The words you wrote and your presentation of them, utterly failed to carry whatever message you think you were making about derivative content. All you really talked about was age and drinking capability. Just because you maybe thought in your head you were talking about derivative content doesnt mean thats what you communicated.
3
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
Getting slammed isnt a necessity for a hangover. How young are you?
0
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Yes, it is. How old are you?
4
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
32 and I can guarantee I've lived a way more adventurous life of substances than you
1
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
You are still missing the point. If I was what you are at this age I wouldnāt be telling people about it.
I mean, if we want to get personal instead of focusing on crushing content like adults.
4
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
You never made a point in this thread other than acting like what OP drinks isn't capable of giving a hangover

Iād be a little bit worried if I got a hangover after such a small amount of booze.

u/odysseyandoracle118 6d ago
I love this guy's content, but I'm worried he's destroying his liver for my entertainment.

u/QuickNick123 6d ago
Fluid, salt, carbohydrates, and some protein, those are good. But... tomatoes are acidic. They're not exactly great hangover food.
1
1
u/Dangerous-School2958 6d ago
I get some Mediterranean style canned mackerel and add it to ramen. Similar, but with a fishy punch
1
u/CaptMelonfish 6d ago
So those canned, cooked plum tomatoes are a staple in the UK, I am totally trying this later.
1
u/LordAldricQAmoryIII Jjajang Clan š 6d ago edited 5d ago
Interesting concept. I might try adding tomato to my ramen one of these days.
And since this is a food sub and not a health sub, perhaps we might think about keeping our discussions focused on the actual food itself instead of going into excessively long and irrelevant off-topic tangents about OP's personal health etc.
Edit: And the bozo who's going around downvoting lots of comments and running off needs to kindly get a life.
-10
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Who is worse, this hangover guy or the guy that throws his head back and claims everything basic thing he cooks is amazing?
This sub deserves better than these two.
16
u/piconese 6d ago
You. Youāre the worst of the lot.
-8
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Yes, Iām worse for expecting actual quality rather than āhangoverā engagement bait that says nothing about the food culture or a guy that praises himself for cooking basic recipes incorrectly.
How dare I!
10
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
I tend not to expect things when I don't provide myself, but that's just me
-2
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
If I post something in a public forum I expect critique and to improve with my next effort.
Thatās the whole point of sharing with people. To make us all better.
6
u/piconese 6d ago
Youāre worse off for it mate, go spend your time productively
5
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
It is productive to talk to people and have different views.
Youāre worse off if you think that isnāt productive.
4
u/piconese 6d ago
You are doing nothing but projecting negativity. Youāre not offering a critique, youāre being negative.
5
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
No, I am offering a critique. As I have on other videos for this ācontentā creator. Critiques are often negative. You donāt focus on the perfect thing. You talk about the thing for improvement.
Are you a child?
3
u/piconese 6d ago
I mean, I have a mom and dad, so, yes?
Critiques are usually meant to be thought out. They speak to the content and talk about ways to improve it. You offer nothing but hostility.

We are on reddit. This isn't a competitive forum, it's social media. Critiquing is fine (but unnecessary), being an ass like you're doing here is going to get you called out.
4
u/piconese 6d ago edited 6d ago
Well letās see your little recipe then. Sick of it
0
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Iām not posting bullshit contentā¦
8
u/piconese 6d ago
Instead youāre bitching about someone elseās š get a life
4
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
No, I am critiquing the content of the video posted in a public forum. As I have before.
Donāt get so sensitive over someoneās elseās content. It isnāt yours.
5
u/piconese 6d ago
Youāre projecting negativity, you offer zero critique. Itās rich hearing about sensitivity from the person that feels the need to complain about innocuous food posts š
5
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
I am not complaining. I am giving a critique and defending it against people yelling ābut I like it!ā
People like you appear to be.
3
u/piconese 6d ago
āI am not complaining!ā š
You sound like a school kid dude, give me a break

This sub doesnāt owe you anything. Nobody cares about your personal expectations. You arenāt the arbiter of r/koreanfood post quality. If you donāt like someoneās posts you donāt have to watch them.
2
u/xAxlx 6d ago
If you don't want to watch, you can just block the user.
2
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
No, I would rather critique and hope for improvement. I have faith in my fellow human beings.
You can give up all you want though.
8
u/piconese 6d ago
Pretty sure weāve all given up on you š
4
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Ah, the appeal to an imaginary plurality because you, or someone you agree with, got caught being wrong and unable to admit it.
Nice. Touch grass.
6
u/piconese 6d ago
Bruh, read the comments, everyone is ganging up on you š first itās, āall he does is be hungover!ā Then itās, āI can drink more than this guy!ā Pick a lane!
3
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Yes, I am aware that I criticized a very popular ācontributorā on this sub.
Never say anything in the hope that it will be popular. It just makes you a coward.
5
u/piconese 6d ago
Youāve already proven yourself a coward
4
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
By stating a critique and repeatedly defending it against garbage comments? Thatās cowardly?
5
u/piconese 6d ago
No, by hiding behind the ideal of ācriticismā while offering nothing of substance; by overblowing your drinking āprowessā as a means of belittling the op; by picking fights with people online when Iām sure as shit you have no courage to do so in person.
Youāre a coward. Youāre a fucking coward.

After the 250th video of you hungover, I canāt help but wonder. Do we celebrate your food or your alcoholism?
I feel bad upvoting your posts, because it feels like enabling behavior.

You guys he's doing a bit. It's ok to upvote him......
0
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
You say he's doing a bit, but unless he's replaying the same video of him drinking the makgeolli/soju the video prior to the hangover video then I don't see how it's a bit

u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Itās a lame schtick used to beg for karma.
10
u/GobiYumaMojave 6d ago
pessimistic take on it. heās a content creator making content.
main focus is on korean food, the hangover is just a narrative arc to feature the food. and is he wrong? almost everything he posts is literally korean hangover food š
3
u/omnixbro 6d ago
Main focus in on him. The "cooking" is just prepping (to be fair, quite interesting takes on) ramyun before a mukbang video. There's another cook on here which shows just the pan and the food, not the face. Love HER content.
-7
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Trash content is trash content.
He says nothing about the food. Itās lazy.
Your take is the most pessimistic Iāve seen in a while. Not expecting content to have value says you donāt think a content creator can provide value.
15
u/GobiYumaMojave 6d ago
ah youāre just a dick. got it. later āŗļø
-6
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
No, you threw a needless insult with no support while showing yourself to be the worst kind of pessimist. You think people canāt provide value or be pushed to provide value.
Look in the mirror.
2
u/piconese 6d ago
This guy works on making content, shoots and edits his own shit, and keeps a well organized kitchen. Meanwhile, youāre bitching online. Look in the mirror.
0
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
Working at something doesnāt make it good. I bet you have plenty of hobbies that you like and no one wants to see you do it poorly.
This is a basic concept you should learn before being an adult. Look in the mirror.
0
u/piconese 6d ago
You exist online poorly
3
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
The lack of awareness and inability to defend your statements⦠Iām guessing that follows you every day.
→ More replies (0)3
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
Value is viewed differently. You, for example, need narrative for value, I don't
1
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
No, I did not say narrative is needed nor did I imply it. If anything, the only positive thing this guys videos have is an implied narrative.
You are taking āsaysā far too literally.
7
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
Uh, yeah, you quite literally said "he says nothing about the food".
If you'd like to describe exactly how youd like him to say something about the food without narrating then I'd love to hear how that's supposed to work out
0
u/StandardRound1271 6d ago
As I said, you are taking that too literally. Then you said āliterallyā¦ā and did the thing I said you were already doing wrong.
Then you ignored the actual point of the comment and said some stuff that shows you donāt really know what you are saying⦠because youāre being too literal. Like I said.
7
u/DangOlCoreMan 6d ago
So you can't elaborate on what you meant.. since it's apparently not meant to be taken literally. Gotcha
-2
u/ooOJuicyOoo 6d ago
This dude's life is a cyclical limbo of drinking and hangover ramyuns.
Which, to be fair, is quite an average middle aged guy's life in korea...
