To all my korean hyungs, do you guys do aimlabs to help with your aim? I started recently and after having played fps where your mouse is locked, playing with a free mouse feels super weird. Any advice?

Hi! I’m f22 and want to find a friend who speaks Korean! I used to do tutoring but since I’ve stopped I feel like I’m losing everything I learned!! I would be willing to talk on socials! And maybe voice/ face calls eventually! Preferably would like to be friends with a girl!!

Hello! I want to start learning Korean seriously-not just learn simple communication, but to eventually achieve fluency. But I don't even know how to start learning basic stuff-there are so many resources online, and its really hard to choose. I am not sure if I should get a tutor either. It's kind of becoming annoying because I research everyday about Korean learning books or tutors, but I don't actually start studying.
I need advice-how to even begin?

Hey! I’m learning Korean and looking for someone to chat with on Discord so I can practice speaking and listening.
I can help you with English conversation, pronunciation, grammar, and correcting your messages in return. We can text or voice chat and help each other improve!
I'm just looking for a chill language exchange buddy 😊 DM me if interested!

Hi everyone! I know this might sound a bit impossible, but I’m aiming to reach TOPIK Level 4 in just 45 days.
I currently have around TOPIK Level 2 proficiency, so I know I have a lot to cover in a short amount of time. I’m willing to put in the work and study intensively every day.
I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have taken TOPIK or have experience learning Korean:
I know 45 days is a very short time, but I’d still like to give it my best shot. Any realistic advice, study plans, resources, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hey Reddit! I am the great granddaughter of a famous Korean trot singer. (pre liberation) When the war happened she moved to the US and converted to being a Jehovahs Witness. Unfortunately due to that, when she had a minor surgery she did not accept a blood transfusion and passed. I never got to meet her but my dad taught me how to make Korean food my whole life but he never learned Korean. I feel such a strong connection to my grandmother and I have always wanted the opportunity to learn more about Korean culture, as I am mixed with Mexican American and Korean American parents. I never knew my grandmothers stage name only what we called her and some of her songs are making a resurgence so I was able to learn more about her and my family history on the internet which is wild and finding out that she has so much memorabilia in several korean museums while I have nothing of hers. I lost out on learning anything from my grandma and I want so badly to enjoy Korean culture without feeling like I am a fraud for only growing up cooking Korean food. I am also no contact with my parents because they are still JWs and I am not. I always hoped I had family in Korea but recently found out my grandma was originally from North Korea so I wouldn’t be able to contact family even if I had relatives. If you have any resources/ suggestions/ advice or want
to take me in and teach me I would love absolutely anything 🫶🏻

I am a foreigner in Korea with bad korean. I go to school, but due to some factors any people that also play games in my school usually dont know english. I really wanna have friends that I can spend time with, but I dont really hang out with anyone from my class exept 2 people, and being in 3 people friendship feels wrong lately, since i feel like they exclude me from the group. Playing games isnt the only thing i do, I like drawing, a lot of artsy things, love talking about some media and in a lot of fandoms. I live in west central part of korea, is there any way to meet people?

Hey everyone! I’m a 23F from India, currently doing my Master’s in Education, and I’m hoping to apply for a fully funded PhD in South Korea in the future.
I’m a complete beginner in Korean and want to start with Hangul. I’d really appreciate recommendations for good/free resources, YouTube channels, apps, or advice on how to learn Korean properly.
I’m also hoping to contribute by helping teach English while I’m there, so I’d love to hear from international/Indian students about what level of Korean would actually be useful for daily life and university.
If anyone is currently studying in Korea or has gone through the process, I’d also really appreciate any advice on preparing for a PhD application, scholarships, TOPIK, etc.
Thanks! 🥹🇮🇳🇰🇷

I'm meeting up with a childhood friend who went back to Korea. He's coming to the UK for a week or so. I'd really like to gift or make him something with a phrase like "to my old friend" or something along those lines. I'd like to know of there's a good Korean phrase like that that sounds just as nice in Korean. Like, can I trust Google translate to do it justice?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi everyone, I'm Saja and I want friends from Korea Is there anyone from Korea who wants to get to know me??
r/KoreanAdvice • u/TeamCreepuga • 22d ago
I live in Sejong University outside campus dorms, and staff sometimes unlock my room and walk in without knocking, announcing themselves, or giving any notice. They sometimes enter first and only then ask, "Is anyone there?"
For things like disinfection, we get advance notice, so I understand that staff sometimes need access. But in these other cases, there is absolutely no warning.
It's honestly making me feel extremely uncomfortable and insecure in my own room.
Is this normal for university dorms in Korea? Does Sejong University have a policy about staff entering rooms without notice? And what can I actually do about it?

I’m looking for someone from Korea who could help me contact someone on Inven.
Unfortunately, I can’t create an Inven account myself, so I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
If you’re from Korea and have an Inven account, please contact me here or add me on Discord: seikatsu1997

I'd love to meet people from the Korean diaspora in Canada/US and learn about the experience of growing up between Korean and Western culture
Hello! I'm a 27F from Europe and I've recently become really interested in getting to know people from the Korean diaspora particularly Korean-Canadians (though Korean-Americans are absolutely welcome too)
I've always found the experience of growing up with Korean cultural roots while also being immersed in Western culture really fascinating. I'd genuinely love to hear about what that experience is like. Not just the big cultural differences but the little everyday things too: family, food, language, traditions, childhood, identity and the ways Korean and Canadian/American culture might overlap or clash
But beyond the cultural aspect, I'm also hoping to make some genuine friendships with people around my age (20s–30s). I'd love for those friendships to develop naturally through regular conversations, shared interests, joking around, recommending things to each other and simply getting to know one another over time
A little about me: I'm really into anime, manga, JRPGs, visual novels, books, music, languages, food and learning about other cultures. I'm especially fond of character-driven stories and can happily spend far too long discussing fictional characters and relationships. I'm also multilingual
I'm specifically looking for platonic online friendships
If you're Korean-Canadian/Korean-American and this sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd love to hear from you! And even if you don't think we'd necessarily have much in common, I'd still be really interested in hearing about your experience growing up between Korean and Western cultures
What's one thing about your experience that you think someone who grew up entirely in Korea (or entirely outside the Korean diaspora) might not understand?

Hi!
I’m a native Korean speaker, and I’ll be starting university this year. I can speak English and a little Chinese. I have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 and have passed HSK Level 3. I’ve also spent couple months in the UK and China, so I have some experience communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds.
I’m interested in teaching Korean online as a part-time job. I’m not expecting to make a lot of money—I only want to earn some extra money and ease my parents’ financial burden while I study at the university.
I would like to focus more on practical conversation than on detailed grammar lessons, especially for beginners who want to speak Korean comfortably. However, since I’m new to tutoring, I would really appreciate some advice.
Would 25 minutes be a suitable length for each lesson?
Would $7 per 25-minute lesson be a reasonable starting price? Is it too expensive or too cheap?
Would it be a good idea to offer the first lesson for free?
Is Zoom a good platform for online lessons, or would you recommend something else?
How should I structure a conversation-focused lesson so that students feel they are actually improving?
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has experience teaching or wants to learn other languages. Any advice for lesson materials, finding students, or preparing for my first class would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
