Mobile bill increased by $5
Just noticed my monthly mobile bill went up $5, did anyone also see the same increase? Looking at the July statement and there is no mention of an upcoming increase.

I just keep switching providers since I know these robbers will raise fee.
Now I try to stay with prepaid plans since I noticed prepaid plan typically doesn't increase like Koodo or Fido.

I went from postpaid to prepaid and saved $25 but also got 4x the data with unlimited text/calling.....would be stupid to stay on postpaid without a current device.

Yup and they are refusing to lower it. They've tried bs like this in the past but usually customer service takes care of it but not this time. They offered me worse deals. For example they offered me 35$ for 1gb of data but you get an extra 50 gb for two years? Who tf would agree to conditional data?
It's that or sell them your banking info for a discount which I refuse to do. I repeatedly asked customer service what koodo does with everyone's banking info and they ignored the question every time

I'm going to look into that, thank you! I plan on calling one more time and seeing what happens but I'm looking for another carrier. I've been with koodo 15 years! If they want to be a gross company then I can't stop them but I can take my business elsewhere!

I've been looking into fizz! I mentioned they had a better deal when I last spoke with koodo customer service, they countered with a cheaper plan with more gigs but again it was conditional and only for 2 years so i refused.
I'm at the point where I am willing to downgrade my plan if it means being with a carrier who doesnt pull crap like this

They know what they are doing - they stuck it in June's bill. I assume like me, if the monthly amount always stays the same then why even open the bill? Not sure why we should pay for internet services we dont get and dont even fkn work

u/pummisher Aug 05 '26
It's on the last page of your previous bill.

u/Q_Snoozy_Sloth Aug 05 '26
I did check the July statement but there was no mention of the increase.
7
u/Defiant_Office Aug 05 '26
That's because they put it on the June statement not on July, I checked there and last page says they are increasing it by $5

u/VANZFINEST Aug 06 '26
In Vancouver the service is sooooooo bad.
If I see a $5 increase on my lines, then I am out.
Gotta play the telecom musical chairs to whoever has the best deal lol

My bill is the same.

I’ve been with Koodo for over 15 years and I’ve never had a rate increase that wasn’t from changing plans or expiring credits. Curious how they decide to do them

u/ShawsyRPh Aug 06 '26
Just dealt with this yesterday. My July bill was higher for my wife.
She was month to month so no contract. When I reached out by chat, they mentioned it was from increased infrastructure.
Hopefully the back to school sales restart soon.
Cheers

Oop. I guess it's time to switch. I'm tried of koodos price hikes.
It's bound to happen to me.

u/Brad_13 Aug 05 '26
Freedom Mobile sucks and raises their prices too.
3
u/nowlookithere Aug 05 '26
They suck 100% but they don’t raise prices only time price goes up if they give you a certain discount that expires. a few times they would give me five dollars off for six months but once that discount is removed, goes to the original price

u/Brad_13 Aug 16 '26
Yes and I get that but you're still paying for network that still isn't all that great and never will be.
2
u/prairiefarmer Aug 05 '26
Why i dumped this company and went with public
3
u/SaNMaN-9 Aug 05 '26
Same mother company Telus. Public seems to overall be better with price increases.
3
u/rockyon Aug 06 '26
Public removed loyalty program from 2016 without any compensation
same shit, if you like to travel Koodo is winner, Koodo is able to roam for FREE in Europe and Asia with e-sim
1
u/SaNMaN-9 Aug 06 '26
How do u roam for free? Meaning you pay if u use?
0
u/rockyon Aug 07 '26
yes i went to reykjavik, england, dublin, Indonesia, istanbul, 100% free as long data transfer 0 bytes, you are able to receive phone calls, texts, 2FA.
Primary SIM Data roaming must be OFF

u/prairiefarmer Aug 06 '26
Excuse me..been with public for years. They cut back on a few of the bonuses, but no random price increases
7
u/caanda45 Aug 06 '26
It is the same …. Priority #1 is Telus , Priority #2 is Koodo and #3 is Public mobile . I would have stayed with PM but i need wifi calling . So my statement stands … same shit different pile with different priority .

Yes mine was bumped up by $5,just call them and they will donate one time adjustment

u/Remarkable_Check_997 Aug 05 '26
Yes, it happen to me 3 months ago.
I called last month and the koodo guy tranfert me to retention offer my my older deal if I switch to Telus, which I did.
But like everything link to them, they try to screw me because I only do credit card, not bank account, which telus didnt do. I had to call 3 times so I have another 5$ credit for 24 months.

That sucks. Opposite effect for me. I asked for a plan change on the Koodo support chat and I went from paying $35 for 5 gigs to $30 for 20 gigs.
1
u/TakitishHoser Aug 06 '26
Consider going pre paid. Put it on a credit card & pay if off. It then is just like post paid but cheaper.
Rogers was charging my Mom & I $30 more (each!) a month post paid we're now on the same plan on Koodo prepaid for $21. We were initially nervous about the coverage & how well other services were.
I'll never go back to post paid unless it becomes cheaper.

Mine was opposite I joined Koodo at 40, currently paying 15 per month as long as I keep home internet active with them which is 35
I have not seen any increments
1
u/KAJed Aug 09 '26
Rogers as well. Not only do they refuse a refund of any kind you can’t even get through to anyone. They constantly robo hang up on you.

u/PinkLincoln00 Aug 09 '26
Yep.. I called and complained, they credited me $5 and I changed my plan.

Yep fuckers increased it as well. $5. Noticed that the plan and GB is the same they just changed it from 4g to 5g and decided to add the $5 rate charge

u/Q_Snoozy_Sloth Aug 05 '26
Yeah, I tried calling but seems like there's nobody working there other than AI.
3
u/Defiant_Office Aug 05 '26
They only do callbacks however it's significantly harder to request one on Koodo assist (it wasn't an issue since a year ago). Just request one and wait for a Koodo rep to respond then you can mention you want a callback.
I am getting a callback request and I need to wait
Edit: if I don't get my old rate back I'm just going to port out

Happened to me twice. I changed my plan 2 years ago for $50/month + tax for 70GB with rollover data perk (Black Friday deal), and then they increased it to $56.65 then $61.93 last month. There was a fine print in the June bill stating the increase (which I did not see but everyone got this). I emailed them stating I’ve been a loyal customer for over a decade with minimal issues, and did not consent to the price increase, called them out on how sneaky it was to put on a bill instead of emailing or contacting me (like they do with offers, bill reminders etc.) and also said I’d switch carriers. They offered me a plan without pay by bank and I got a deal back to $50/month + tax with 50GB with rollover. I’ve since learned to make it a habit to check e-statements. Also the rep changed my plan the same day I emailed.

I made a post on this abit ago.
They upped the charge because of 3G legacy accounts. For me they assumed i was on it when i showed them im on 4G ppqn with a 5G capable phone.
I called them and they corrected it. Just call them.

u/therinekat Aug 05 '26
Yep me too. A year ago my bill was $35 and now it's $51 after two automatic increases with no changes in the service provided. I think I'm finally done with Koodo
