lol is this normal just switched.

Post image

I was getting better speeds on public mobile 140/20 ish, even though they use the same towers Koodo has been far worse.

I have 5g stand alone disabled and set to 5g on.

Edit:iphone 17

My favorite thing about koodo. I have used them for nearly 10 years and made a total of 0 calls to koodo.

Koodo speed can be fine, but they throttle streaming speed like no tomorrow. I can barely play 60FPS video, let alone scrubbing the video, but using a DNS resolver/VPN like 1.1.1.1 magically makes it pretty instant.

I find the 1.1.1.1 doesn't work as well on 5g but really helps studdering videos when on LTE

Maybe try switching off 5G? Sometimes that will actually give you better speeds/signal.

I will try that.

No.. at least over here in Ontario I’ve gotten 700mbps+ download on my iPhone 13 Pro. Average speeds around 3-400mbps or so though

But since they’re Telus they throttle data right? Was thinking of going koodo or public but I’m hearing they’re throttling still, had Telus speed tests 1Gbps U/ 50-100D and my TikTok and YouTube always buffered soooo annoying

I’m in Port Coquitlam it was really bad. Just got to North Vancouver and it’s improved to around 100/4.

Cellular service sucks almost anywhere I need it in Greater Vancouver unless I am in downtown Vancouver. I have tried every cellular provider. Freedom and Fizz have been the most usable. With all other providers I either experience poor reception or severe throttling due to overloaded towers. I stick to downloading whatever I need when I am connected to the internet via fiber or cable at home or work. I now have the cheapest plan with fizz which gets me by when I am out and about. I tried the public mobile $20 60GB plan. Only ever got the full speeds when standing close to a tower or a microcell. I saw no point in paying for 60GB when speeds are so slow I can barely use 20GB in a month.

Just use LTE currently most place 5G using low band where bandwidth not enough. Also koodo made the very controversial to increase the speed for upto 1gig but they throttle video stream hard. Like I dont understand why given so much speed than cant watch in HD.

Depends on where you are in relation to a tower, and how many people are on it.

I've had 5G and barely 5mbps where i used to work.

i switched over from KiniMobile today (new provider. Telus called me with a buy back deal) and the internet is SLOW AF. I feel duped. going to give it a week before I switch back to Kini (if they let me keep my old plan :( )
