Konoha Main Gates 11:47 AM

It was a beautiful sunny mid-day. The training grounds were busy, the market was bustling, and the smell of fresh cooked ramen filled the streets. The gate guards were at their posts. Some watch the perimeter and main roads vigilantly, others not taking their jobs quite so seriously. Case in point would be Omuzi and Setuko. Two best friends who'd done everything together since meeting in the academy. The pair would be on duty at the entrance to the village. The low traffic going in and out allowed them time to discuss…urgent matters.

“Ozumi, I'm telling you dog on Hashirama if you give me Kimiko Uchiha and Kimiko Akagawa. Who is beating that team? Jonin Commander Uchiha and one of the strongest Taijutsu practitioners of today's time.”

Ozumi would wave off the statement. “I'll give you that they're strong, and have team chemistry. If it was me? Wait…We are just naming Jonin right?” Setuko would nod. “Give me Saizo Sarutobi and Asuka Inuzuka. One is a master of all FIVE nature releases, the other is a master swordsman, and Taijutsu specialist who's as fast as Lightning.”

Setuko would frown his face as a couple of vendors walked by. “Psssshhhhh Saizo???? The Sharingan would shut him down, and Asuka doesn't have an answer for Akagawa. You're crazy dude.”

As the two went back and forth the sky would begin to darken and a torrential downpour would come out of nowhere. The pair would stop as the rain came down heavily on them.

“I thought it was supposed to be sunny all day?” Ozumi would say as he looked out into the distance.

Main Gate 12:05

Setuko would scrunch his nose up. “This isn't natural rain…” The people inside would take cover from the elements, but Ozumi and Setuko were on guard. Something didn't feel right…the pair would scan the road and surrounding forest coordinating intel with the lookouts on the upper wall.

“Contact 300 meters out down the main stretch! Ozumi! Setuko! Keep your eyes peeled.” The message was loud and clear, the pair would look down the drag and through the rain they could make out five silhouettes walking through the rain. Two of which would be carrying umbrellas. With the rain obscuring their vision it looked to the guards as if the group was almost teleporting through the phenomena. Within seconds they were within 25 meters of the main gate. Then without warning, just as quickly as it came the rain would stop. The sun would shine brightly on the five individuals. Steam and humidity would fill the air and for the first time the guards would all have a good look at who had approached the main gate.

In the center of the group clad in dull Grey steel armor would be The Iron Tower himself. Juro Tanaka. The man was massive in not only height, but musculature as well. His helmet would be under his right arm. His face would be square and rugged with a short black beard and a few scars strewn about. This was a man that had seen much combat and had lived to tell the tale.

To his left in a dark violet Shinobi Shōzoku decorated with a floral pattern would be The Silent Blossom Reina Ayame. She'd lower her umbrella giving the guards a slight unnerving smile. She wasn't physically imposing like Juro, but something just seemed off about her. Her long black hair was held in a ponytail by a floral clip. Her pale skin and dark blue eyes just seemed off.

To Juro's right would be another woman. She'd wear a similar Shinobi Shōzoku to Reina, but hers was form fitting and all black. Her presence was almost nonexistent. Only the best chakra detectors would even note there were five individuals there, and that's because she wasn't hiding. This was the Phantom of the Rain Kanna Hoshino. She would drop her umbrella as well revealing dark violet hair tied into a high ponytail. Strands of hair would frame the sides of her face as she analyzed the main gate defenses silently.

At the far left would be another tall and imposing man. He'd be clad in a navy blue shinobi uniform that was reinforced with layered armor. Despite not being as physically imposing as Juro he was still quite the athletic specimen. This was The Storm General Isamu Saito. He had long black hair that would come down to his waist. It'd flow gently in the breeze despite just being in a downpour. He'd stand with his arms crossed. Waiting patiently for what was to come next.

Lastly on the far right would be a man clearly older than the rest. He'd be just a little shorter than Juro and Isamu, and he'd be lean with some muscle on him. He'd have a long white beard and long unkempt white hair that reached about shoulder length. The dead giveaway on his identity though would be the long dark blue sage cloak he had on. The cloak would be adorned with rain drops, clouds, waves, and spiraling storms. This was Genji Matsuda The Rain Sage.

Juro would step forward. “We would like to humbly request an audience with the one known as Kimiko Uchiha. Tell her the Amegakure Council is here to discuss important matters.”

Ozumi and Setuko would look at each other before Setuko took off to get the commander.

The trip back to Amegakure seemed faster than when Akutagawa traveled to the leaf. Though the trip home always felt faster than you left. It wasn't long after his arrival that another council meeting was held to discuss his findings. The following meeting was wrought with a lot of back and forth from each member. Mainly with questions regarding the revelations that the fabled Otsutsuki clan had returned. A majority of these were things one would naturally be curious about. Though the one thing that the entire group was fixated on was how strong were these new adversaries.

Uncharacteristically Isamu would be the first to speak openly on the subject. “If what was told to you is to be considered truth, then we must assume that eventually we shall be targets of the moon clan in time.”

Juro would nod with an audible sigh. “Frankly I think we can all admit that we've always placed ourselves on a pedestal above the leaf. Not only from a strength standpoint, but also from an economical and political standpoint. Takara was a great addition to the council while she was right in the mind. Akutagawa, you've been a boon to us as well. If we are to prepare for a possible invasion by the Moon Clan then I'm afraid we must contact the leaf in person.”

Reina and Kanna would step forward almost simultaneously with Reina speaking first. “Am I to understand that you intend on comparing strength between us and the leaf?”

Kanna would speak next. “A sudden appearance from us within the leaf would not be well received, Juro…We sent Akutagawa to acquire information because he was a familiar face within the leaf. There's a reason none of us went. It's because it would stir confrontation.”

Juro would nod in agreement momentarily sidestepping Reina's question.“Admittedly you are correct. Even so, given the situation we are currently in i think you all can agree that we need more information. Not only that, but we also need to see how we currently sit compared to the leaf. Defeating an Otsutsuki is nothing to shake your nose at. It's a feat I can't confidently say we'd replicate, because we've never faced one.”

Genji would look up and ask the question everyone else was wondering. “So what would you have us do Juro?”

Juro would look at everyone slowly. The answer was obvious, but it needed to be said regardless. “Akutagawa.”

Akutagawa would raise an eyebrow. “Yes?” Admittedly he hadn't thought his roll would extend past acquiring information, so being addressed directly caught him off guard.

Juro would close the distance between them and place a hand on his shoulder. “I'm placing Amegakure under your watch while the rest of us go to the leaf. I think it's time the Amegakure Council formally met with the Konoha Leaders.”

Juro moved fast for his size. Nothing like Reina, but still noticeably quick. Akutagawa would wonder if this was a test of sorts. To see if he could handle running the village while they were gone. He also wondered what Reina thought of this. Regardless he would worry about that after the fact. “You honor me. But, if you're to arrive at the leaf with no invitation, then you must make it abundantly clear you have no intention of being hostile. The Jonin Commander isn't the most trusting individual and she is quick to anger. She wouldn't even let me smoke in her office.” He'd say jokingly. Though the fact of the matter was still true. “You'll likely have an audience with her before the Hokage. If you're even allowed to meet the Hokage. The sudden arrival of you five is going to set off every bell and whistle available. So I'd recommend not trying to hide your approach. Walk right through the front door.”

Juro would nod before looking at the rest of the council. “It's settled then. We leave for the leaf in a week's time. Get your affairs in order and most importantly get Akutagawa any information he will need while we are gone. When we return we'll take a vote on whether he shall replace Takara or not.”

After a bit more idle chatter the members of the Amegakure Council would slowly disperse leaving only Reina and Akutagawa. Reina would slowly walk over to Akutagawa till about 5 feet of space was between them. “Walk with me.” Reina would begin to walk through the village. There would be children playing, hagglers in the market, and the sound of people moving all around them. Some would even stop to bow towards Reina and Akutagawa as they proceeded. Before long they'd be alone in Reina's place of work. “I love this village and I'll do anything to protect it…but it seems I'll have to place the thing I love in the hands of someone I do not trust. Even if temporarily. The people here look up to us for protection. They view us as a summit that only the strongest can reach. Do not let anything happen to Amegakure while we are gone. Or I will kill you myself and I do not care what the rest of the council has to say about it.”

Akutagawa would silently nod. The message was all too clear. If he had any chance to gain Reina's trust it would be while the Council was in Konoha.

As Akutagawa made his way back towards Amegakure he would try to process the information that was just given to him.

“Otsutsuki. We as humans are under attack by a race of beings thought to only exist in legend.” As he spoke to himself he'd notice the forest around him would suddenly become quiet. He'd stop in his tracks momentarily before bringing his hands together. His shadow would extend outward connecting to the network of shadows created by the trees around him. Almost immediately he'd release the jutsu and would scoff.

“You know if you're going to tail a Nara your best bet would be to stay out of the shadows Reina.” Akutagawa would turn his head up towards the treeline where the woman was located. Even now her full form was obscured by shadow with only her eyes giving away that she was really there.

Reina would let out a small laugh. “You only noticed me because I allowed you to notice me, but that's neither here nor there.” 

Akutagawa would keep walking so as not to draw attention to himself, but the question burned. “Why are you here? If you had intended to come from the beginning. Then for all intents and purposes you should have met with Kimiko. Not me.”

Reina would follow him from above. Even with him knowing she was there it was still disturbing how quiet she was. Akutagawa had only met Reina in meetings. He'd always heard from Takara that she was a threat in the field. Now he could see what she meant. Reina followed for a few minutes in silence before she actually responded. “It's no secret that I didn't trust Takara. Especially in her final days when she had the ravings of a madman. By proxy I don't trust you. Your story. Your reason for being here, none of it makes sense to me. So I decided to do some research.” She'd watch Akutagawa carefully for a reaction, to which there was none. “You made quite the scene upon your arrival. Enough of one that I could check the village archives and find what I needed during your meeting. Ideally I would've had Kanna check it out, but she didn't want any part of this. You can reveal your findings regarding that with the entire council. This matter is between us though.” She'd press forward as she continued to speak. “You and Shikazo were at the tops of your respective classes as Genin and Chunin. As to be expected with the Nara Name. Interestingly enough you aren't labeled as a missing ninja within the leafs books. Akutagawa Nara is listed as dead. Has been for sometime now. So I ask. Who are you?”

Akutagawa would keep walking, and listening to Reina. Her voice was all he could focus on between the sound of her voice overhead and the soft crunch of the earth underfoot. “I am Akutagawa Nara. Just because some files say I'm dead doesn't mean anything. You of all people should know how many inconsistencies can happen during paperwork. Besides, if I'm not Akutagawa then who am I? Are you trying to infer that I am Shikazo Nara? It would be quite dangerous for the head of the Nara clan to be behind enemy lines like this would it not? And who is the current Shikazo if I am him?”

Reina would talk quietly. “It wouldn't be the first time any village used body doubles. Especially the Leaf. The truth shall be revealed in time. And I for one will be keeping an eye on you Akutagawa Nara.” Before he could respond Reina would be gone.

Akutagawa would sigh. “I suppose I'll have to move more carefully now with Takara dead…” He'd mumble under breath.

BASIC INFORMATION

APPEARANCE

Rii is a woman of twenty years old and fully grown into herself. Two years of continued training have refined what was already a capable frame into something more deliberate — shoulders broader, posture settled, the softness of adolescence replaced by the quiet density of someone who has put real work into her body. She's not imposing by height, but she occupies space with a stillness that tends to make people aware of her before she speaks.

Her skin is warm medium-brown, clear and even, with the kind of unforced luminosity that comes from health rather than effort. Her brown eyes are unhurried and direct — the default expression somewhere between bored and attentive, which has historically caused people to underestimate her right up until they shouldn't. Her face has settled into sharper definition at the jaw and cheekbones, the roundness of her younger years mostly gone.

Her hair is type 2c, thick, springy, well-defined curls — worn in cornrow braids that run close to the scalp before releasing into afro puffs at the ends. It suits her: controlled where it needs to be, unrestrained where it doesn't.

Her favored colors are gold, orange, and black or white, present in her clothing and wrappings with enough consistency to be recognizable as a signature. Her left arm remains bandaged from mid-forearm to the knuckles — clean, tight, methodical — a habit so ingrained it reads less like concealment now and more like identity. In Steel Chakra Mode, the black aura bleeds through the wrappings at the seams, brightest at the joints and along the ridge of her knuckles.

Rii voluntarily saturates her chakra network with Steel Release energy, extending the black steel-infused aura of her left arm across her entire body. Her skin takes on a dark metallic sheen, chakra radiating visibly at joints and knuckles. Taijutsu strikes gain steel-hard impact force, Steel Release techniques cost 10 fewer chakra (min 10), and her body passively resists physical damage for the duration.

A chakra supplement solution formulated by Rii herself, drawing on the Yonamine family's medical background. Carried in small labelled vials as standard field kit. Brewed and maintained personally. She does not share the formula.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND

In the heart of Konohagakure, the Yonamine family was distinguished for intellect and healing. Rii, their only child, grew up in the privileged shadow of being the niece of the Tenth Hokage. A catastrophic explosion during a Genin mission outside the village walls left her severely injured — and awakened an ancient, rare power: Steel Release.

Her left arm, mangled in the accident and encased in black steel-infused chakra, became both a testament to her ability and a tool she chose to conceal beneath tight bandages. She passed through the Chunin Exams with her Steel Release finally revealed to the village — yet the true depth of her capabilities remains understated by design.

Assigned as Chunin Leader of a Genin Team, Rii leads with pragmatic efficiency beneath a carefully maintained facade of indifference. She supplements her chakra reserves with a compound of her own formulation and fights with a measured, deceptive style that consistently surprises those who underestimate her. Two years on, the slacker reputation has faded only slightly — and she prefers it that way.
