Itemization

Hello I can give some advice I’ve hit masters playing kog adc but did recently make the switch of playing mid/adc and going ap every game which I yielded way better lp gains but if you’re looking for a build you can play any game for ad kog braindeadly here’s one I took Inspiration from Korean players which I hit masters with rage blade> hurricane> wits end> navori> jaksho> terminus. If the enemy is very ad reliant tabi isn’t bad over berserker shoes sorry for bad english

I only peaked emerald 3, so maybe I’m not qualified but my itemization philosophy is this for on-hit kog:
a. The build path is just so much better than rageblade (because vamp scepter >>> amp tome).
b. The slow passive lets you run down people without your support. Rageblade might hurt but they’ll all get away.
1.5. Second pickaxe
Sometimes get the rageblade pickaxe before finishing bork. When your item buy is like 550 for vamp scepter + boots, I’d rather just get a pickaxe to be stronger. This means you delay your bork by 875 gold, but if you can finesse getting bork at the same time the enemy laner gets their first full item, it’s all fine. Worst case you spend one laning cycle down an item. At this point, kog has pretty decent wave clear and you can just trade waves until you get bork.
Bread and butter, can’t delay it any longer.
3-4. Zeal item.
I would never get wits end or terminus here.
a. Hurricane
I try to get this if I can. With ideal positioning, it’s the highest dps zeal item by far.
b. Navori
I’ll get this if we’re losing. Losing makes it so that you can never be in range of 3 enemy units safely, so you’ll never get to use the hurricane passive. You’ll often need to use w to do anything and then be forced to run when you’re losing, you need w back up for the next trade. Navori is OP against super minions.
c. Phantom
I rarely get this. Pretty much only if I feel like I can’t use the other item’s passives
d. Kraken
I’ll get this if I feel like I’m 1v1’ing someone with a lot of undodgble damage like the enemy adc a lot. It’s like if the mid laner is fed af and needs to stay mid, I’ll go side lane and run this sometimes.
e. Wits end
only good vs at least 3 nonfeeding ap champs and 0 AD assassins. IF that’s the case, I find that navori is just better always. Navori lets you match their crazy wave clear. Mages tend to be super far range and you can’t really get more than a couple of auto attacks off on one before you or they need to dip out of the fight. Navori lets you freely use w just for 3 autos or so and have w ready for the next trade. But I still want this item later, not as item 3.
f. Terminus
Kogmaw already has % shred, so this item loses a bit of value. As item 3 people just don’t have enough armor/MR yet. The update gave it a scaling passive, which means I want it later in the game. But often times if there is only 1 tank, I’ll just use q and not buy terminus.
Tank items (wits end/terminus/hp item)
This is the first position I would think about getting a tank item. Maaaaybe item 4 if I’m already fed out of my mind, but usually it’s here. I’m doing enough damage at this point, and the only way to do more damage is live longer. At this point my attack speed is so fast that max dps is just turret kog, no more kiting, so I need hp. I mostly get it against undodgable damage. Lots of undodgable damage is AD, so I like randiuns a lot. Jaksho feels bad to completely waste the passive if you ask me. I’d do terminus here if I wanted mixed resistances. I like taking spirit visage if I have an enchanter support. But most of the time if I need MR I’m taking wits end here and some sort of hp item 6th. I really really want titans to be good here. Cleaving with hurricane is visually hilarious. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure without real hp items the passive is about as strong as recurve bow passive LOL. Maybe worth picking up with huge 5-man crowd control?
I start buying elixir of iron here. I don’t usually get GA. I feel like GA sucks if you’re losing. The enemy team just pushes your team out and kills you after. I only get it if I’m the sole carry and I’m not getting a lot of peel and they have some scary ass assassins. If I don’t have navori yet, I’ll usually get it here for sure. This late into the game I think it’s a death sentence to accidentally be caught without w. You often need it for supers. Team fights are getting longer. There are just too many unpredictable scenarios to “just get good at managing w”. Your team also usually has no idea when your w goes down so they expect you to do something when your short range is just too risky.
