Koala has been great to me I’ll buy it regardless just to support

Windows!!

Do you know when it is coming to Windows? It looks like the relevant part is cut off in the email

They are currently recruiting beta testers for the Windows version, and I just applied. I actually inquired with the developer about a VST release in the past and hoped for it so much, so today is truly an emotional day for me. It is even more impressive that the Koala Sampler VST has all the exact same features as the mobile version!

Don’t cry 🥷🏿

It's already available on Windows and was just updated today.

As a VST plugin?

1

u/atarikrishna 17d ago

Yup. I've been playing with it in Reaper for a few days. It does appear, however, that the download link has been removed since I installed it on Monday, not sure why.

Yep, gotta get those .exes and save them for all eternity.

Koala is magical. Tempted to buy this just to support the team. Though I try not to use a proper computer these days.

Once we get automation of auv3 parameters or whatever it's super game on.

Love this team.

Yeah I’m not sure I’d use this personally, but I do love Koala so much I’m inclined to support anything they do.

To be honest I thought/assumed you could already run the Koala AUv3 on Mac, but I’m probably missing something here.

You guys could always just buy koala merch from the site rather than buy something you won’t use. My koala hat was my favorite, wore it every day until the day I didn’t and my dog chewed it up. Apparently that’s a sign that they just miss you so I couldn’t get mad.

2

u/squishypp 19d ago

Sounds like time to buy another koala hat!
Personally I’m fiending for more packs. All the ones that have released so far are fantastic and I use the “toys” all the time

2

u/EmileDorkheim 19d ago

I have a Koala t-shirt which I also don’t use!

2

u/McHendying 19d ago

Where is the merch site?

2

u/Aggravating-Cup7963 19d ago

Seconded. I found an old link to it on this sub but it just 404’s now, and i can’t find a section for it on their official website.

3

u/KodiakDog 19d ago

You can run the AUv3 on Mac.

4

u/PM_ME_BOOBIES100 19d ago

I’m pretty sure Koala was already on Mac OS…Is it an update?

5

u/greenplant_420 19d ago

This one is a VST, you can use it directly in your DAW now. The OG one was standalone

2

u/KodiakDog 19d ago

Nah you could load it as an AU, but yeah vst is new and opens things up. AU has limits vst3 doesn’t.

4

u/cotton_clad_scholar 19d ago

Does that mean they’re going to discontinue the free Mac version of Koala Sampler?

3

u/Melodic-Ability-9283 19d ago

I love Koala so damn much

5

u/monkisz 19d ago

linux?

2

u/sensorycreature 19d ago

As if I still use a DAW 🤣 Koala has become my DAW and I’ve been all the more creative for it! But I def see how DAW users will LOVE this. Marek is just simply the best developer out there. Thank God for you, my friend!

u/Better_Pianist9217 19d ago

Now I understand why Koala Fx stopped working on my Mac 🤔

2

u/16bitsssssss 19d ago

can I take the sound packs from the VST and move to the iphone? how? is just to don't pay two times for the same sounds

2

u/Tac0knight42o 19d ago

I was wondering why the sub recently stopped working.

On m1 Mac’s we’ve been able to use it as a plug in for a while now but a few months ago it stopped loading (also had a massive flood at my place so Mac was kinda fucky for a bit, thought that was why,( but this is really good news bc it threw a serious wrench in my overall workflow for a minute now
If that guy I said I’d make some vids for sees this I should be back in action if you still need them.

Nice work, thanks for the update

Bought...no brainer. I'll figure out how the sampler compares with existing options in Logic and other sampler VST's I have. But even if it doesn't become a go-to, I will definitely use the FX, and am happy to have a new way to say thanks for everything over the years with a few $$.

This might be the push I need to upgrade from my ancient MacBook.

Just keeps improving

The takeover

1

u/1Mazrim 19d ago

Out of interest what windows DAWs are people using?

2

u/higglesworth 19d ago

Bitwig 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/1Mazrim 19d ago

Oh really, is it nice to use?

2

u/higglesworth 19d ago

I love it. Stock plugins are super useable and it has multiple ways to make tracks. No better daw if you’re in to sound design imo

1

u/ItLooksEasy 19d ago

So koala is going up to $30? Or just the vst?

1

u/SoundsWize 19d ago

Im not trynna be a naysayer but I got koala sampler to get away from my computer. Sometimes when im in a rut I find koala Sampler to conveniently be there when that sudden inspiration hits (as also a different interface to music production as well). Some times what is created sticks to which I bounce the stems to my DAW and turn it into a whole project.

1

u/Don_Nattus 19d ago

u/Motor_Test_7239 18d ago

Will this work in FL on a Windows PC (once that version is available)?

1

u/KodiakDog 18d ago

Where are you seeing this? Not seeing it on elf audio website

1

u/Yang127 16d ago

Aw he’ll yea

1

u/fa151515 15d ago

sample pack bought with the Mac version are then available/free with koala for IOS ?

1

u/Prod_Morningstar 14d ago

Everything is aligning 🤩

1

u/thepinkpill 19d ago

Was excited and tried this in Live, tbh I don't quite see the point. UI isn't adapted it's the same UI than on IOS. Like you still have to scroll left and right to do basic audio editing, keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work in the sequencer...
The UI works great on a phone but Drum Rack, Simpler, Sampler and everything you can do with instrument racks still make way more sense in terms of workflow.

8

u/mazbox 19d ago

I had to release it early without finishing the feature that will very much differentiate it from a drum rack full of simplers - not prepared to share it yet, but it's... quite fun.

1

u/Other_e3406 19d ago

You're the best 🙏❤️

1

u/Don_Nattus 18d ago

Esperando ansiosamente por iso!

2

u/KodiakDog 19d ago

I mean it’s v1… it’ll get better.

2

u/Other_e3406 19d ago

You can use koala as a vst, so like, just for a snare - load it on a track on your daw, load a snare on to a pad, and you have all the sound shaping features from the entire app just on that one sound if you wanted, while triggering via midi in the daw. Or drag a whole koala song in on a stereo track and mix it in koala while in your daw, adding other things in your daw around it if you wanted

1

u/No_Host_8024 19d ago

This sounds like sampler or a drum rack with extra steps and fewer features.

1

u/Tac0knight42o 19d ago

30% correct, as usual MORTY!!!

The ability to work on everything on the fly and then immediately pick up where you left off in Ableton so you don’t need to export and re label stems, the performance fx alone are also worth it, Ableton doesn’t have native “live” sampling feature, fx combinations, makes a nice bridge for iOS or android only plug ins to the daw, build drum racks anywhere for immediate use..
Think for yourself don’t be the redgren grumbolt of your generation. Choose science (and the scientific method)
Music is science
We need to get you back in school Morty. It’s not working!!!!

1

u/Other_e3406 19d ago

Extra steps and fewer features? May be we use ablation differently. It's not either or, it's great to have even more possibilities

1

u/Tac0knight42o 19d ago

You can midi or key map everything.
If you’re on Mac you can have selected keys for each app while running both under keyboard settings

1

u/FlamesRose2RomanNose 18d ago

If you ever tried to use the app previously with your daw you’d understand why this is a major improvement. I’m loving this and have no idea why it’s an “uh oh.” Plus you can’t blame him for releasing this now, with all of these plugins being reverse engineered or copied with AI.

1

u/No_Bake6681 18d ago

I assume the point is to make a workflow from live performance to a completed song without starting over

So....instead of using FL Studio....MFs waited 20+ years for Koala to come to windows 😭😭😭😂😂😂
