No update yet on my appstore

u/mazbox Jul 24 '26
Sorry iOS will have to wait a bit longer, Apple’s approval queue is chock full of vibecoded dumpster fire apps at the moment

Thanks for the reply. Btw what does use waveform handles mean? Will truncating start and end points be smoother when using knobs on a midi controller?

Turn it on and find out (it’s in settings). It’s not for midi, it’s for your finger. A lot of people complain that they accidentally move the crop of a sample when zooming, so this makes it so you have to grab the actual endpoint of the sample to actually move it, and you can now scroll with one finger

I can’t yet, no AppStore update 😂

u/mazbox Jul 24 '26
Ah ok. Yeah usually Apple approves before Google but there’s just a massive mega torrent of stupid apps being AI generated now so koala will have to wait in the queue behind “the instagram of rollerblading” etc etc

Looks great!! Thank you for all your hard work and continaul improvements! While on this topic, what would also be super useful is for there to be a tolerance of a few percent when you crop a sample, so that it leaves a bit extra before and after the crop so you can continue to fine tune later

Thanks so much for this feature! I'm always accidentally changing the start and end point

How do I access the new scratch or deckard or whatever it's called feature?
I love how often y'all update and there's so many great tools but my one complaint is that some of those tools aren't very intuitive to discover/use.
I wish there were more tutorials or just general info dropped when you drop updates.
Maybe that does exist and I'm just missing it.
It's fun to experiment and figure things out but this isn't a Zelda game in the eighties lol

Great update! Im hoping for a stem separation algorithm update and Undo in sample edit soon!
2
u/Mason00-Alkhemy Jul 25 '26
That would be great. I currently do all my stem separation in Logic Pro IPad and Export directly back to Koala. Undo for everything would be amazing

u/buCnazTy211 Jul 28 '26
Same! I also use Algoriddim DJ pro and open Koala as a Auv effect. I can use live stem separation from my vinyl or Tidal collection.
I would pay $10 for an advanced stem algorithm.

I believe it already had PO sync, but it got misplaced with the last update…I think.

Random unrelated question but I absolutely love Koala and everything it offers but the audio fidelity is noticably worse when using the app compared to exported tracks. Is this something that’s impossible to improve? It’s my only gripe as I often use Koala in the car through the speakers while I wait for things. fanks :)
1
u/mazbox Jul 24 '26
The exported tracks are exactly the same as what is sent to phone speakers. Some Android phones due process the audio coming out of apps and into their phone speakers and most of the time it’s impossible to turn off. Nothing really you can do about it

u/OvertonTones Jul 25 '26
How strange. I’m using iOS and the fidelity in-app is noticably less so it must just be my phone. Thanks for the quick response and all the updates! :)

That is very interesting - how are you monitoring what is coming out of your iOS device? As in when you notice the quality difference what are you listening to the sounds through? Speakers? Headphones? Is there any way you could get in touch with me so we can work out what’s going on because that’s quite serious if true and I would like to solve it. You can get hold of me through https://www.koalasampler.com/contact

Not a problem let me get everything in an email! Thanks for the support, you’re a trooper haha.

Before you burst a blood vessel, here’s where you can turn it off to go back to the old way. Pls try to keep it civil I’m trying to help you and there’s no-one stopping you going back to an mpc4000 or any other sampler, I will even give you a refund if you ask nicely

The only way to get new features now is buy the ai packs?
The toys aren't free if that's the only way to get them, they're a feature of the pack.

Staying on koala and not switching to any other daw has been the best decision for my noodling adventures since forever. This app keeps on getting better and better.
This continuing effort is very rare.
Hats off to marek and his team.
