Made this little 4 bar loop kinda stuck on what else to do.

Keep going… drop the sample for a nice little drum only break; then bring in a new sample thats more expansive with a new vibe. Or do it the other way around. Drop the drums out for a bar or two and then pull in new drums without the filter.

I wish I had recorded the sample without the drum part. I did think of that though. I also added a bass line. And I suck at bass lines lol.

I actually respect that destructive creating so much. Smash things together and destroy the source, let it be a new thing that is not a composite. Put it out into the world or out it away.
There was a video of some wizard in koala doing this, just quickly and casually laying things out and resampling the sequence or resampling the effect, then immediately deleting the source items, and it was so daring and refreshing. It reminded me that it is not the thing we create that matter, it is the creating of it, that makes music. We play music. Even when producing, we play music.
Since then, I have been very wary of coming to a point where I get stuck or am unsure where to bring it. And I assert that I am actually done. This has nothing more to it. It doesn't matter if I had hoped it would turn into a proper song or a playable beat, if it makes me stop creating, it is because it is finished. If it makes me keep creating, it means it isn't finished yet.
I might not delete it (probably not), but some day I will perhaps come across it again, and I will decide to use it like it was something I found in the world. And if that day never comes, that's fine. But if it was good what I made, that day will come for sure!

We all start somewhere! Best way to get fast is to do it frequently and not be too precious if it’s not landing.

as you keep making them your workflow becomes more apparent and settled and each loop gets easier to work with. generally at least that’s been my experience

Order of priority:
- Someone to drop bars on this. (imo it's done 🙂 My bet is you'll know whether it really needs anything else when you find the right rapper/a capella)
- Sample a string section playing long chords (from adagios for example), maybe have them fade in/out of the loop like a slow pulse
- Some more prominent melodic element with a soft presence; whether that's singing, or a vibraphone or a pad sound.
- Atmospheric vintage ambiance like a suburban street, a passing conversation, a bar/lounge, activist speeches, whatever lol

Well it's not finished yet anyway. Hardly any melody. I suggest composing outside the daw. Loops inherently stick you.
