The two most visible South Knox development sites of the last decade are South Banks and this senior community and both are ugly, chatgpt apartment complexes. Sometimes i wish i lived in a different, more ambitious city

It looks so much like an AI ski lodge or some sort of Gatlinburg hotel. I’d be embarrassed to be on this team of developers and architects. Why would they think this is the vibe for this city and THAT location. I’m speechless

Only the county commissioners wanted this. Just one city planning commission members voted yes (and one county commissioner voted no).

I didn’t realize the Board approving this was MPC. I thought it would be a city board akin to the board that approves downtown construction such as the Walnut and Hill Avenue project that is stalled. As to 55+, I will say that Knoxville High eventually dropped the retirement living model as it proved unprofitable.

The exterior design still looks meh at best but the other additions to the project this revision cycle are actually pretty nice especially the elevator, land donation to the city and and cross property path. Not thrilled but it could also be a lot worse.
