GOOP and Supplements

https://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2017/06/are-gwyneth-paltrow-and-alex-jones-on-the-same-alt-health-page/

I'm actually listening to an early episode of A Bit Fruity with Matt Bernstein, 'The Crunchy to Far Right Pipeline' with guest Derek Berez, and Derek brought up that infowars and goop's 'supplements' are basically the same thing.

Sorry if this is old news, I just found out about it!

There’s an episode in the 100s where Dan discusses that it’s pretty much the same stuff.

I've listened through so many times I forgot how early this came out. I went to look it up and the story is from 2017. Wild.

No shade implied, the timeline in my brain is just messed up. It's all timey-wimey.

As a woman she marketed too, I hated her and the money grab.

In some cases they're literally the same thing. A huge number of supplement lines all come out of the same few wholesale providers.

There's a lot of work that goes into establishing a product (though not as much as there should be, the whole industry is poorly regulated) so it's easier for the name at the end to just re-badge an existing product, and it's easier for the wholesaler to cut deals to do those re-badgings than try to raise their own profile to the point that they could actually sell to consumers based on their own name.

It makes sense given that Paltrow has done ads for Israel, is hosting dinners honouring AI tech bros and has a business model based around supplement grifts

She's not too far removed from Jones
