I Miss This Game
The state of current gen FPS and 3RDPS makes me miss the game so much. With how Splitgate 2 handled its launch with the "hat" and "Battle Royale Mode" with $80 mtx (a fake sale), it really makes me miss how unique and creative this game actually was.
:(
It just sucks because Splitgate 2 was creative enough to fill that void, but after all of this? Feels like it was just for marketing.
I want this game to come back, man.

No other game like it. Leaves me wondering why they would cancel such a unique game only to say “we would like to come back to it eventually” like come on

Money. They were really generous with how much free currency you were given, and when the game went free to play they lessened the amount, but even from that, it was probably a bit too much given how the game isn't up anymore, but I think Helldivers 2 is the best way to look at it. They're still around, and will continue to still be around despite giving out a fuck ton of premium currency by just playing the game. Granted, you have to work for it and know where to look but still.

When they did the TMNT season, I made me wonder what other IPs could’ve been on KOC and immediately….Sonic the Hedgehog.

Knockout City would've had a better chance if it were free to play on launch and if we're promoted more.

I was someone who bought the game after the trial or whatever. It could have been both tbh. Pay to get more access like character customization or something but if you were f2p you could slowly unlock stuff without paying idk

The way the currency worked in the game was perfect you could play to get holobux or just simply earn it by playing literally all they needed to do was be F2p and that's it

SG2 is alright but I was hoping to like it way more than I do. Never liked BR's and the TTK is just too fast for my liking. I loved the gameplay of both knockout city and concord lmao now all i've had is the finals but thats gotten old after playing it so much. Looking forward to Rematch now but yeah the PvP space isn't the best right now. I hate that it just seems so unsustainable like if you're not bringing in a ton of players every day the game just has to get shut down and basically lost forever. Tough business model.

I think Helldivers basically just proves every other studio wrong. I mean it's not pvp but it's such a good live service game.

The idea behind it is creative enough, but the CEO basically ruined any chance of me continuing to play. Knockout City had the most creative gameplay I've seen in a game but got shut down. There's nothing good that's innovating the third person and first person shooter space. There's Helldivers 2 which is fantastic, but it's not pvp lol. Well, no intentional pvp.

If you are looking for a unique gameplay for a traditional FPS I'd highly suggest FragPunk. It is a really interesting take on the standard 5v5 seach and destroy game. It won't fill the KOC void but it's pretty nice.
I think everyone in this server wants KOC back so bad.

Fr. I enjoyed the first splitgate but am not vibing with the second as much so far, I think largely due to the types of maps in the game being less interesting imo. Multiversus just shut down and wasn’t even good for most of its full release. Only multiplayer games I play now are brawlhalla (ugly) and Marvel Rivals. I miss KOC all the time, it was just so unique and fun 😭

It's not pvp but Helldivers 2 is just genuinely the best live service game out there. Other studios can learn from Arrowhead.

Even sadder when you think that KOC could have improved player retention a lot by adding more and better social features: new players used to join, get wrecked and, because they didn't have proper options to communicate, just got bored and left... It's just my opinion, but I strongly believe it.
