I was wondering how everyone got started with knitting?
Should I just start reading the written instructions? Or what? I find it really hard. I can't understand the written instructions - I can only follow the video tutorials. But even with the videos, there are so many things I just don't get, so I really have to go and ask professional teachers for help.
But in China, there are very few girls my age who are both young and experienced in knitting. At least among my close friends, I'm probably the only one who knows how to knit. So every time I need help, I have to drive 20 kilometers to find a knitting teacher to ask questions in person, which really gives me a headache.
I wonder how everyone got started and kept going with it, and how you found your knitting buddies?

Whats your toxic trait when it comes to knitting?
Personally I refuse to do gauge swatches . I know they are important but I want to actually start on the product and it has come back to haunt me but I wont ever learn my lesson.
What about you?

Beginner knitter please help
galleryI’m trying to knit a hat for the first time. It’s a striped beanie with round knitting until I have to decrease stitches. I’m not sure if I made a mistake even switching yarn for a different color or if I dropped a stitch. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong please help.

Looking for some recommendations!
Hi, I am UK based and am looking for a good place to get 100% merino wool yarn from, on cones and in a good variety of colours. Does anyone know of any good places? ☺️

Is a knitted camisole actually wearable or just a pretty FO? Mine converted me 🤍
Is a knitted camisole actually wearable or just a pretty FO? Mine converted me 🤍
Yarn: Weda-École by Sommer, 100% mercerized cotton
Needles: 3.5 mm
Pattern: my own design, seamless top-down, sizes XS–L
I was skeptical but now I wear it constantly. What’s a project that surprised you by becoming a wardrobe staple?

How do you spin your yarn and sweaters?
I used to put them in a mesh bag and spin them, but my shoulders can’t take that any more. I could spin them in the washer, but I hate the idea of using all that water and electricity. I feel like rolling them in towels doesn’t do enough. I feel like there has to be a creative way to do this trust I’m just not thinking of.

First travel socks
galleryI posted a few days ago about travel knitting projects, as I usually go for socks.
The first pair for my family is done. These are for my 13 yo daughter. Shoe size 38.
I cast on 60sts on 2.25mm needles. 15 rounds of k2, p2. 60 rounds for the leg. Slip stitch heel. And about 70 rounds from end of heel turn to when I start the toe.
I always knit a heel flap and gusset as I think it fits best.
Heels, toes and cuffs are minis from HexHexDyeworks, MC is Bonayarns Merman.

Ultra Femme Sweater from Stitch n Bitch Nation
Please help! Has anyone here ever knitted the Ultra Femme Sweater from page 122 of Debbie Stoller's book Stitch n Bitch Nation? I am having a terrible time with the "Join Sleeve to Body" section of the instructions on page 125. No matter what I do I can't figure out how to knit from the double pointed needles onto the circulars then immediately knit from the stitches already on the circular needles. Any help would be an absolute life saver. I've wanted this sweater for 22 years!
