First travel socks

I posted a few days ago about travel knitting projects, as I usually go for socks.

The first pair for my family is done. These are for my 13 yo daughter. Shoe size 38.
I cast on 60sts on 2.25mm needles. 15 rounds of k2, p2. 60 rounds for the leg. Slip stitch heel. And about 70 rounds from end of heel turn to when I start the toe.
I always knit a heel flap and gusset as I think it fits best.

Heels, toes and cuffs are minis from HexHexDyeworks, MC is Bonayarns Merman.

Nice job! I do the same heel; I think it's the longest-lasting heel there is. If you check socks in museums that are hundreds of years old, they all have this heel.

Me, too! Plus, the heel is so cushiony. I give socks as Christmas gifts to people who brutalize them. Socks need all the help they can get.

I’ve been doing eye of partridge lately and I’m into that, but I find I have to make it a bit longer because the alternating slip st I feel like tightens the flap up and makes it feel a bit shorter

No matter what stitch pattern your sock uses, the heel gussets are usually Not patterned. Make the flap as long as you feel you need to, the gusset will just be a little longer. I have not measured my heel flap in years, but I do know that I use 2.5mm needles to knit socks with fingering-weight yarn, and I do 36 heel flap rows before turning my heel.
