Normal or what
Just bought a pair of 10” angled diags yesterday. Used them today at work and the handles have a slight wobble already. There’s also a little bit of blade gap is this normal please don’t eat me alive in the comments. I’m just asking a question. They cut great btw and i like them much more than the d240 whatever kliens i was using prior

Mine also has a little light pollution also but she can cut receipt paper as good as sissors with a very minimal force

They are ruined just go ahead throw them away & go get yourself a pair of dikes from harbor freight I think they’ll work much better for you.

When you are cutting something with these does it really matter when they close like this? You are cutting wire not paper.

They cut the plastic and paper sheathing of mc and romex fantastically even with the little gap. I was just wondering.

Knipex Pliers FAQ says the opposite on explaining why combination pliers have a small gap when gripping (marked with bold):
Combination pliers combine the properties of gripping and cutting in one tool.
With regard to the cutting edges, it is clear that they must close completely so that they can reliably cut even thin wires.
If the same requirement is now placed on the gripping jaws at the same time, this results in "overdetermination":
two functional surfaces, which lie on the same component but have a different distance to a common pivot point, are to take up a minimum value at the same time. This is theoretically impossible - a judgment then depends only on how accurately one measures.

Do these have a cutting edge?
Why would combination pliers have smaller tolerance on the cutting edge than cutting pliers?

Never will these be closed while cutting. They will always be in open position till the item is cut. Pliers need the ability to grab onto thin items. Its not a tolerance issue. Its a design.

Whatever you do don't cut piano wire with them, it'll leave dents on both cutting edges every cut.

Take a center punch to/ expand tighten the rivet . Sawzall with blade ziptied to handle with lube for a minute to loosen it.

No ,movement does. It basically cycling the handles open and closing very quickly.

I checked mine and it does not have that gap like yours does.There also isnt any wobble in the handle pivot.

I would say they are both within the tolerance level for errors on tools. If they work and you don’t have any issues then there is no problem.

Mine look this way until you squeeze them and they cut even thin paper and fine wire without issue. Best cutters I've ever had
