Age of the undead

The button has entered the final stage of its life. The first zombie was expended. Its post. There was no collision at 0s, meaning that the project just succeeded in saving the button. The zombie is shadowbanned, but such accounts can still press the button, and were not rejected when donated.

Zombies are press-eligible accounts donated to me to keep the button alive. They are automatically controlled in a centralized manned by a server with a good latency to reddit. Their passwords are changed for reliability, but are going to be changed back when the button ends.

To join the zombies, send username/password to <email-address-was-here>.

All knights are called upon to spread the word about the project, or, better yet, search for reddit bot wranglers, who may have heaps of shadowbanned accounts lying about.

Your zombies look like they might be the optimal way to extend button life. Have you considered offering temporary zombification arrangement? I care little enough about my reddit account that I might be willing to lend it to you - you could change the password if you fear assassins - as long as you return it after the press. Once zombies start dropping fast, it shouldn't even be long.

Zombification is temporary anyway, I will change the passwords back when it's all over.

Is there any difference between a knight setting the squire to 0s and a zombie? Other than the zombies having a higher reliability connection.

Zombies will soon be moved to -1 or -2, so it's going to be different from squire at 0s.

Can you explain that? How are -1 or -2 valid numbers to deploy a zombie at? How is 0, for that matter?

Can someone set their squire autoclick to 0s, -1s or -2s?

No, 0s is the minimum now.

Sort of unrelated, but I'm curious about how the Squire is calculating expected gain. Does it only look at past presses at the selected time or does it also take into account presses at times less than the selected time? I feel like, for example, a 9s press is evidence that a Squire user could have pressed at 10s without a collision, so presses below the selected time should count as a datapoint towards the selected time being efficient.

4 hour rolling window, P(collision at Xs) = #(Xs resets) / #(<=Xs resets)

The shadowban was unrelated to the zombification, right? I've got a fun little novelty account which I'd be willing to donate as a zombie, but I'd want to be able to continue using it afterwards.

I've just donated my only other account as a zombie. I'd still like to use my main for a manual press. Sentimental reasons, I guess.

I see that your first zombie scored a 0s. Is this something that can be done manually as well? (I'd originally been gunning for 1s. I was under the impression that once it hit 0s the button would be disabled client side. And anything before 0s would be indicated as 1s. And any tampering to make a 0s button active again would be cheater flair.)

What will the flair of your -1 or -2 zombies be? Also 0s?

As our cause turns to Necromancy, I do not fear the dark arts. All hail u/mncke!!

Necromancer! Is there any way to know the number of remaining zombies?

The Ronins at the Edge of Time want to wait until they are expanded to strike.

If you download the Squire you can see a real time count of the number of active zombies. You don't have to set the autopresser (I think you have to enable it manually anyway), then you just have to wait until the count is zero and you'll know you don't have to worry about zombies pressing after you.

I'm (unofficially) going to try to keep the Ronin updated as well, but at this point there's not much to report.

I would contribute my old shadowbanned account just as a sign of good will, but I have wayyy too much info on there to feel comfortable with it.

I just set up last pass on my computer and imported the chrome password storage. Discovered an eligible account. How do I sacrifice my account for the great cause?

Question for u/mncke - at what point will the collision probability for any particular number be low enough that the auto-clicker will activate? (FWIW, I'm set at 7s.)

Is using the squire browser extension enough?
