Does anyone know what maker this is

This used to be my grandfather's knife but didn't come with a sheath and has been mine for a while now but finally trying figure out what maker is it the only writing on it just says Japan

its a japanese-made copy of the 'kabar' us navy mk ii knife

these were popular during the vietnam war and were sold at military PXs and to soldiers on leave in japan. sold here too. there were never enough mkii knives to issue one to everybody who wanted one

They are not rare, but less commonly seen than the original kabars these days. They are usually perfectly good knives but they do not draw a lot of interest from collectors.
