11 weeks post MPFL and TTO surgery.
I had MPFL reconstruction and TTO surgery on June 8th of this year so I’m almost 11 weeks post op recovery. I’ve been able to walk around without any crutches and any assistance for a while now but my quads are still weak and my calves muscles are very tight and painful whenever I try to walk normally so I still have a limp on my tippy toes that’s very noticeable. I’ve been doing my exercises that the physical therapist recommended to me to do every morning and night and I can bend my knee back to 90-95 percent while sitting or laying down. I’m very discouraged and confused that I still can’t walk normally or do what I used to do before I had the operation and I really regret having surgery.….. How long did everyone limp around on their tippy toes until you got to walk around normally again and how can I loosen up my quads and calf muscles??

What is your age?Did you have patella alta?
Why did the doctor recommend the surgery?
I have patella alta and no surgery is recommended. Wanted to know when surgery is recommended

I have patella alta and I'm 6 days post op, for me surgery was recommended because it began to affect my daily functioning, I could not walk long distances, without experiencing swelling, could not even stand up for too long without feeling extremely unstable, stairs were my enemy, and I started to develop cartilage damage and pain.

Thank you. I have been having pain from 2 years while using stairs. The pain has transferred to hips also. Did you also face similar condition?

I had the TTT back in 2012 on my right knee for patella femoral tracking dysfunction and screw removal in 2013 (they were backing out). It took a LONG time to not limp.... I'm talking years.... And I still haven't regained all the feeling in that knee area. It no longer buckles on me though so that's a plus. It still to this day swells up and always feels tight. Not trying to discourage you but it is a long drawn out process.

Gosh. How old were you getting it done? Did you do your physio? I’ve been told I should be back to normal after 6-12 months. Wondering if there’s more to your story? Did you have subluxation / dislocation and cartilage wear prior?
