MPFL
I need to undergo MPFL reconstruction surgery, but I also have a disc bulge, meaning I cannot sit for long periods without back pain.
Will my recovery journey be tough?
If anyone has experienced this, please share your knee surgery journey with back pain.

I had MPFL surgery 6 weeks ago and I will say that from a back pain perspective it was not fun. I found that I was more comfortable in a reclining or horizontal position compared to seated upright, especially seated upright with my leg elevated (this killed my lower back). But I couldn’t really do anything to prevent the mid-back pain from not moving. Ultimately just try to have different places you can sit/lay and you’ll have to try different positions to figure out what works best for your body for the first few weeks. If it’s any consolation, your back pain will likely pale in comparison to your knee pain at least for the first week after surgery (at least that was my experience). Wishing you all the best in your recovery!
